Our team at Vistar Media is made up of engineers from a variety of backgrounds and expertise. This makes it the perfect place to learn from seasoned engineers to help expand your knowledge of a new programming language or technology and to make a big impact on our products and services. Our engineers work closely with our Product team week-to-week to develop new lines of business and add to our existing feature set. At Vistar, we value code quality and have a rigorous code review process. The responsibility is shared across the team, with each member participating.

We are looking for a passionate Software Engineer to design and develop software solutions. Our ideal candidates are familiar with current trends in web technology, and have extensive experience in at least one of the languages used in our code base. You should be able to work independently with little supervision, along with excellent organization and problem-solving skills.

We encourage mentorship through pair programming to help bring our team to the next level. Software Engineer's are expected to participate in these activities and set the standard for the team. Ultimately, the role of this Software Engineer is to build (and enable their teammates to build) high-quality, performant and well-tested software that complies with coding standards and quality expectations of the leadership team and our clients.

What you'll do:
    • Work collaboratively on a dynamic team to deliver solutions to complex problems.
    • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code for high-reliability, distributed, desktop-like applications.
    • Interface with clients for production support and requirements gathering.
    • Daily design, development and debugging of local and remote systems.
    • Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing.
    • Take ownership of complex projects and deliver solutions with unclear or incomplete requirements; drive them forward to fill the gaps.
    • Design scalable solutions in the IoT space where tens of thousands of devices connect at a time.
    • You will split your time between tech lead activities, architecture, and hands-on development in this role.
    • Work alongside a team of engineers, providing technology leadership to create and own the end-end software development life cycle of the product.

What experience we're looking for:
    • 4-10+ years of experience in software development.
    • Experience with true full stack-from the database to CSS.
    • Expertise in at least one compiled, one interpreted language and one web framework.
    • Expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, RESTful API's and microservices
    • Proficient with React, Python, and AWS
    • Experience with GoLang is a plus
    • Expertise in HTTP and web technologies
    • Experience with developing complex software systems with production quality deployment, monitoring and reliability.
    • Be able to decompose complex business requirements into a working solution.

What we offer:
    • Flexible, fun start-up environment and culture.
    • An approachable and accessible C-Suite.
    • Comprehensive health benefits.
    • 401k + match.
    • Quarterly Lifestyle Stipend.
    • Unlimited PTO and summer Fridays.
    • Company-wide and team specific entertainment budgets for both in-person and virtual team building.
    • A flexible hybrid work environment, with a fully stocked kitchen, weekly catered lunches, and casual attire while in office.
    • Sponsored Volunteer Events and Vistar Gives Back program.
    • An awesome and supportive bunch of people to work with and learn from.
