Your Opportunity

Stantec's New England Transportation has an immediate need for a motivated, team focused Traffic Engineer!

We are looking for an Engineer that is excited to be a part of a team working on some of the most challenging and diverse transportation infrastructure projects in the region including intersections, roadway corridors, roundabouts, and bridges, incorporating complete and safe streets principles. This role also includes an exciting opportunity to work on the development of dedicated bicycle facilities and multi-use paths.

What Will You Be Doing?

As a Traffic Engineer, your work will range from concept planning/traffic studies through final design and construction, working directly with Stantec's broad cross-section of technical specialists, including industry leading multimodal transportation planners and established transportation design professionals. The position will be primarily located in our Burlington, MA office with opportunities for a hybrid work arrangement.

Specific responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Analysis and simulation of traffic operations
  • Working with large data sets using spreadsheet analysis
  • Develop solutions to complex traffic engineering challenges, in a variety of environments - local neighborhoods and roadways, shared-use paths, major arterials and interchanges
  • Preparation of engineering reports and technical studies, including transportation planning, multimodal operations, and traffic safety studies
  • Work on traffic engineering design, including traffic signs, pavement markings, traffic signal and electrical systems, maintenance of traffic, often as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Preparation of construction cost estimates and specifications

Qualifications

What Will You Need to Succeed?
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field. Minimum of 5-10 years of experience.
  • Engineer in Training Certification required. PE preferred.
  • Position will primarily work in an office or virtual setting; may require some field work.
  • Proficiency with traffic analysis/modeling software, including Synchro, SimTraffic and HCS
  • Broad understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of civil design/transportation engineering
  • Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both office and virtual environments
  • Ability to work independently while also developing cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team
