Position Summary

Bay FC is seeking an excellent communicator, writer, and experienced sports PR professional for the role of Vice President of Public Relations. The position will report into the Executive Vice President of Communications, Community, and Public Affairs and manage the day-to-day PR responsibilities for football/soccer operations. This role will also be asked to provide strategic support to broader Club communications initiatives including communications for the business side of the Club. The Vice President must have particularized skill in developing strategic media plans, media statements and press releases, game day notes, managing media availability, experience working with athletes and coaches, managing match day press boxes and away game public relations processes, and creating content for and collaborating with Bay FC's social and web teams. The Vice President must have skill in building and maintaining relationships in all sectors of the media and ensure the Club continues to provide timely information to all stakeholders in a transparent manner. Ideally this position has previous PR experience with a professional sports team.

Responsibilities
  • Play a key role in developing the Club's communications strategy and serve as the main soccer PR media contact for the Club
  • Manage match day media relations responsibilities for both home and away games, including the media availability, postgame reports and the copying and distribution of game notes, statistics and press clips, and more
  • Provide strategic support for broader Club business communications initiatives
  • Manage the creation of game notes, including milestone tracking and updating player bios
  • Draft and manage press releases for Bay FC player transactions and all soccer-related news
  • Maintain comprehensive media clips with the support of Public Relations Coordinator
  • Drive proactive publicity plans for Bay FC players, coaches and General Manager and serve as on-site PR contact for practices, media opportunities and team-related events
  • Manage, oversee and edit the annual Media Guide
  • Build and maintain relationships with key Bay Area and National sports media
  • Assist business communications and community relations with activities and projects, including but not limited to generating and pitching story ideas to media and serving as on-site liaison for Bay FC players and media
  • Perform all other soccer PR assignments as assigned
  • Manage Public Relations Coordinator


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 10+ years of public relations or communications experience; previous sports team PR experience
  • Excellent writer and editor with precise attention to detail and in-depth understanding of best writing and messaging practices for media communications and public relations
  • Exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience with crisis management and crisis preparedness
  • Ability to effectively engage with team members of all levels and across departments
  • Excellent data analysis, problem-solving, critical thinking, and project management skills
  • Understanding of the history and creation of Bay FC and the evolving business, community, and political dynamics within which the club operates
  • Proactive, reliable, and responsible self-starter with a commitment to learning
  • Highly organized planner with strong time management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and adept at managing ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Travel required for away matches

Compensation:
The anticipated salary range for this role is between $170,000-$190,000, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.
