Position Overview
This position is responsible for process improvements, project development, and assisting operations in meeting safety, environmental, quality and productivity goals. Ensures the operation of the plant in an environmentally responsible manner in compliance with all Safety, Health and Environmental Policy. This position is part of the Technology and Improvement department reporting directly to the Process Improvement Lead. Salary range for this position is $65,000 - $115,000. Qualifications
This position requires a degree in Chemical Engineering, salary will be commensurate with relevant experience. A thorough knowledge of plant operations, equipment, and processes is preferred. Ability to present ideas, good verbal and written communication skills, and good human relations skills are required. Advanced skills in Process modeling software such as SYSCAD, Aspen, and ChemCad as well as Python for Machine Learning and Data Science, MATLAB, Plant Triage / Expertune Loop Tuning, SEEQ, Pipe-Flo Advantage and Foxboro / Honeywell DCS is preferred.

Located on approximately 3,000 acres of beautiful landscape in Northeast Mississippi the Hamilton facility is Tronox's largest titanium dioxide manufacturing facility. In operation for more than 60 years, the plant continues to stand the test of time by continuously growing and developing new technologies and strategies.

Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Support plant personnel and process improvement efforts to meet safety, quality, efficiency, and production goals.
- Perform process modeling and flow calculations with various engineering software such as SYSCAD and Pipe-Flo Advantage.
- Serve as process improvement engineer on capital improvement project teams to take projects from concept study to implementation.
- Use creative problems solving to improve safety, quality, cost, and production.
- Gather, interpret and/or analyze data, and draw conclusions based on the data.
- Make data driven decisions and demonstrate the ability to make the appropriate assumptions when unknowns exist.
- Exercise sound technical judgment in resolution of a problem and seek direction from supervisor when necessary.
- Complete Software Change Proposals for new or modified processes. Develop optimized control strategies for safe and low-cost operation. Design control graphics and alarm strategy to be clear and effective for the end users.
- Remove process variability through control loop optimization or other process improvements. Use Plant Triage / Expertune to routinely monitor plant controller helps along with production engineering group.
- Conduct technical studies and or experiments to determine the improvements needed for plant and area goals.
- Demonstrate clear written and oral communication skills with peers, management and customers.
- Participate in Process Hazard Analysis as needed.
- All projects must be managed in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
- Advise and assist plant support and R&D personnel as needed.
- Keep well informed on new developments in quality control and process engineering through contact with educational institutions, professional societies, professional and trade journals, texts and periodicals.
- Promote a "work-safe" attitude and environment where safety is the prerequisite to all activities.
