Leidos Digital Modernization team is looking for a Systems Administrator with VDI to work with our U.S. NORAD and USNORTHCOM customer in Colorado Springs, CO. Our customer maintains a highly demanding mission affording you the opportunity to work with the team to provide expert technical and professional management support to the commands' enterprise Information Technology (IT) services. You will work with a program that provides sustainment, maintenance, Problem and Change management services to help ensure secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability of the Department of Defense IP networks. This position will report directly to the System Administrator Lead.
Hourly Pay: $39.65-$45.50

This position will report directly to the System Administrator Lead.

What will you do in this role'
- Provide monitoring and update current and new systems, implement critical system patches, respond to incidents, schedule O&M activities and coordination of all customer related issues
- Provide subject matter expertise on IT operating systems, computing hardware platforms and systems administration in support of tiers 2/3/4; escalate to Senior System Administrator as needed
- Perform implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems
- Troubleshoot to identify and pinpoint problems for operating systems, applications, network, or mobile issues.
- Actively manage incident tickets and provide status updates on tickets
- Provide system and application diagnoses to remediate issues while engaging other teams as needed
- Develop functional requirements through interaction with end-users and coordinates with support teams on systematic enhancements or changes
- Perform systems engineering functions for new system development efforts or critical system enhancements and patches engineering and configuration management processes
- Review and update current processes and procedures to ensure their accuracy in accordance with customer requirements and contract policies
- Demonstrate ability to learn and provide training to junior personnel on new system changes as needed
VDI Experience Needed to be successful in this role:
- VDI Infrastructure Setup and Configuration: Conducts design, implementation, administration, and support of the virtual desktop infrastructure including VMware data-center products or similar software, Horizon View and related components or similar software, server and data storage systems and systems software. Ensures capacity, performance, usability, security, and reliability.
- User Access and Management: Manage virtual desktop environment user profiles, roles and groups using role-based best practices and ensuring user profile data is adequately and appropriately permissioned, located and stored.
- Virtual Desktop Deployment and Maintenance: Conduct design, implementation, administration, and support of virtual desktops. This includes creating and managing virtual machine templates, deploying virtual desktop pools, configuring group policies, installing, configuring, and updating system and desktop applications to ensure optimal user experience and productivity while maintaining security and current update levels.
- Performance Monitoring, Optimization, and Issue Resolution: Monitor the virtual desktop environment and take necessary steps to optimize efficiency and improve performance. This includes investigating and diagnosing problems, coordinating with other teams and vendors as necessary, and implementing solutions to optimize the user experience and minimize disruptions to end users.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's with 2 years' experience or High School diploma/GED and additional years of directly applicable experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
- Currently possess a Secret security clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance
- Currently hold DoD-8570 IAT Level II (CompTIA Security+ce) baseline certification at start date
- Current server certification (Server+, Nutanix, Azure, etc)
- Demonstrated hands-on background with VDI
- Available for on-call as needed
- Day-to-day fluency using Microsoft Active Directory to manage policies & user objects
- Knowledge of security policies and general vulnerability management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in associated field
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer security principles and DoD security protocols
- SQL programming
- ITIL Foundations Certification
- CASP+ce
- Excellent project, technical, interpersonal, presentation and problem management skills
- Ability to convey orally, and in writing, detailed technical information on troubleshooting and implementation efforts
- Familiarity with NORAD/USNORTHCOM missions and U.S. Department of Defense regulations and directives
