E&I Engineer

Position Summary & Duties: The E&I Engineer is a direct-hire position working for HGA in the HGA office in Baton Rouge, LA.
POSITION SUMMARY
The E&I Engineer supports a Lead Engineer by performing individual and collaborative assignments to help produce department deliverables under supervision. Emphasis will be placed on the continued learning of: engineering design principles, practices and applicable codes to gain technical proficiency, as well as Company processes and procedures to work efficiently and effectively. The Technical Professional clearly exhibits a higher level of trust, knowledge and efficiency gained through previous experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Gain technical proficiency through assigned tasks and daily interactions
• Learn Company processes and procedures
• Perform calculations necessary for specifying electrical and/or instrumentation equipment, as well as Voltage Drop, Conduit Sizing, Cable Tray Sizing, etc.
• Prepare specifications for electrical and/or instrumentation equipment and materials
• Collaborate with drafters and designers to produce and edit drawing deliverables
• Utilize AutoCAD to make minor changes to drawing deliverables.
• Utilize engineering software to help assist Lead with project deliverables and calcs
• Begin to learn fundamentals of project status reporting, scheduling and manpower planning
• Begin to learn and understand project workflow for electrical and instrumentation disciplines
Qualifications:
• 5+ years experience, preferably with an engineering consulting company
• Electrical Engineering degree required from ABET accredited program; advanced degrees desired
• Candidates should be located within daily commuting distance of Baton Rouge, LA
• Experience with ETAP and SKM for Power Studies/Arc Flash Studies, strongly preferred
• Registration as Engineer in Training (EIT), strongly preferred
• Passed NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE), strongly preferred
