CHH Pulmonary and Critical Care, part of the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Multi-specialty Group, is a Torrington based practice of Pulmonologists that provides state-of-the-art clinical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment for patients with diseases related to lungs and breathing.
Critical Care Advanced Practitioner Role Scope
The acute care nurse practitioner or physician assistant practices in an inpatient high acuity setting providing care to patients on a 10 bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Under the responsibility of the physician, the Advanced Practitioner is responsible for duties within their area of competence in the direct care of inpatients. Advanced practitioners admit and round on inpatients under the supervision of a physician. Evaluate the status of any assigned inpatient or outpatient by complete history and physical exam. Order appropriate lab tests, imaging studies, radiographic and other cardiac imaging studies, interpret lab, electrocardiographic and imaging studies. Initiate and write appropriate orders for the care of assigned medical patients including nursing care, nutrition, IV therapy, medications and dressing changes. Follow standard medical practices observed in the Department of Medicine, including delivery of patient care. Complete record keeping, observe strict confidentiality, and attend continuing medical conferences and patient review sessions. Schedule: Rotating day / night shifts including possible weekends

Qualifications
Qualifications
Advanced Practitioner Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Master’s program
- Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a Nurse Practitioner (APRN), or Physician Assistant in the state of Connecticut
- Certification as a Physician Assistant or National Board Certification as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)
- A minimum of 3 years of experience practice as a PA or NP is required
- Hospitalist, critical care, or inpatient surgical experience highly preferred
