Position Summary:The NBA is looking for a senior software engineer with low latency data processing experience to join a diverse product development team. You will be a part of the team responsible for the ingestion, storage, processing and data science involving the NBA’s basketball statistics. Our team’s primary goals are to maintain the historical statistical records of the NBA and then use that data to build fan-facing products that engage and educate the NBA’s fans across the world. If you want to join a team of hardworking developers who love cloud architectures and data science as much as they love basketball stats, this is the job for you!Major Responsibilities:Work as a part of a software development team to contribute to current product development projects involving data and basketball statistics.Architect high-throughput, low-latency data processing systems to ingest, process and deliver dataCollaborate with stakeholders across the organization to architect and build the infrastructure to support multi-modal, machine learning systems that leverage the latest computer vision and data processing technologies.Establish best practices and scalable workflows crafted to handle the demanding nature of processing and analyzing sophisticated data from a high volume of games in real-time.Integrate data processing infrastructure with live video review systems.Contribute to data science infrastructure that generates insights from player tracking data.Contribute to full stack cloud-based development projects that help to build the NBA's next generation of automated officiating initiatives.Required Education/Professional Experience:Bachelor's degree in Math, Computer Science, Data Science or related field. Extensive software development experience in one or more of the following programming languages: Python, C++, Go, Java, C#, SQL.Proven experience architecting production systems for high-throughput, low-latency data processing.Proven experience and strong understanding of Kubernetes' core components.Experience building the infrastructure to deploy AI/ML models at scale within a consumer-facing application.Experience building hybrid cloud/on-prem software systems.Experience with the infrastructure required to deploy ML applications based on computer vision.Experience with data science, statistical analysis, data wrangling, and/or data processing is a plus. Experience with API management / gateway tools like Apigee, Kong, Gravitee or equivalent with the knowledge of API mashups, analytics, developer networks and security is a plus.Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:Excellent verbal and written communication skills. You are comfortable discussing complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.Ability to craft and implement maintainable APIs. Previous experience in building API platforms or products for developers.Committed to write clean code with accurate unit test coverage. Willing to support live game processing and comfortable with on-call rotations.Strong understanding of NBA basketball and NBA statistics is a plus.Display an aptitude for taking initiative to go above and beyond!You are comfortable working on a new product under fluid conditions, seamlessly balancing tactical and strategic considerations!Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.Salary Range: [[$175,000 - $210,000]] The NBA does not accept unsolicited resumes from search firms or any other third parties.
