DescriptionThis job involves leading activities for our team as well as larger cross functional efforts. As a manager, you will play a significant part in the development of Apple’s server products by engaging in very collaborative, rapidly changing environment to integrate new technologies into our designs. You will contribute at every stage of the Apple product development cycle, from concept to production, driving both individual product features and overall system validation activities.
You will work with world-class teams in Cupertino, Seattle, and London who have a real passion for engineering and delivering features that maintain strong privacy and security guarantees to end users. Our team and our partners run the gamut from low level operating systems through OS services like daemons and frameworks, through data center services, network protocols and APIs. You will lead a focused team on this spectrum that must be able to deliver high quality work on tight timelines with close cross-functional collaboration across disciplines.
You should be deeply motivated, driven, and should feel a personal stake in the products and services we are responsible for. You should have the ability to juggle multiple priorities and handle uncertainty. You must have excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with the engineers on our team as well as partner teams.
Minimum Qualifications5+ years of proven excellence in system software development, or equivalent experience3+ years leading a development teamExpertise and proficiency in C, C++, Objective-C, or SwiftExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBS or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experienceExperience with designs that are secure and private firstSelf-directed: the ability to drive a project from a simple idea to productionPreferred QualificationsPassion for product ownership and track record of product developmentAble to coordinate the efforts of multiple teamsExperience building operating systems, kernels, drivers, daemons, frameworksExperience with designing, implementing and operating large scale distributed systems and networking protocolsKnowledge: Networking Protocols, Security, Privacy, Cryptography (TLS, cryptographic chain of trust, data encryption at rest, Key Transparency, end to end encryption)Pay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,000 and $313,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
