What you'll be doing…

At Verizon, we have built a world-class Accounting organization. And it just keeps getting better! We’re a collaborative team that adds significant value to our stakeholders.

You’ll be supporting our very active mergers and acquisitions function as a member of the Corporate Accounting Group. You’ll be managing the flow of accounting information throughout the transactions. We need you on board to coordinate multiple projects and initiatives and ensure milestones are met. Come help us keep our Finance team running better every day.

  • Performing due diligence on potential targets.

  • Valuing intangible assets using appropriate valuation methods including income approach, replacement cost, relief from royalty method.

  • Performing fixed asset verification.

  • Reviewing valuation reports prepared by third party valuation firms for accuracy/reasonability acquisitions.

  • Preparing purchase accounting model to track fair value adjustments and required journal entries.

  • Coordinating accounting with target company/Verizon accounting organization.

  • Performing reconciliation of purchase price to funds flow.

  • Preparing accounting technical memos to support nature of acquisition (business combination vs. asset deal), valuation of acquired assets/assumed liabilities and required fair value adjustments.

  • Planning and performing working capital/merger consideration audits.

  • Assisting with development of carve- out methodology to prepare carve-out financial statements.

  • Supporting preparation and audit of carve-out financial statements.

  • Supporting and preparing summaries of transactions for External Reporting.

  • Supporting External Audit and SOX Audit (material transactions).

What we're looking for…

You’re organized, practical, and great at finding ways to simplify complex processes or solve problems. You have solid accounting knowledge across a variety of topics and the ability to self-direct, run projects and meet deadlines. You enjoy working across different functional groups.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Knowledge of FASB and SEC requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, accounting best practices, and cross functional accounting impacts.

  • Knowledge of key valuation concepts and their application to determine value of a business or underlying assets

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Prior merger and acquisition experience.

  • Prior internal and/or external audit experience.

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent.

  • CPA certification.

  • CFA certification.

  • Proven management skills.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and strong written and verbal communications skills.

Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
