Locum Tenens Gastroenterologist Needed near McClusky, ND (j-235986) Seeking a Qualified and Experienced Gastroenterologist for On-Call Coverage Are you a dedicated and highly skilled Gastroenterologist passionate about providing vital GI care? We're searching for a qualified physician to join our team in a growing community near McClusky, North Dakota. This temporary opportunity offers a flexible start date as soon as possible (ASAP) and extends until the need is filled. Responsibilities: Provide 24-hour on-call coverage for hospitalized patients requiring GI consultation and management. Conduct patient consultations, diagnose GI conditions, and develop effective treatment plans. Perform a variety of endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopies, biopsies, polypectomies, proctoscopies/flexible sigmoidoscopies, hemorrhoidal banding, upper GI endoscopies, PEG tube placements, esophageal variceal banding, banding lesions for acute GI bleeding, and esophageal dilation. Highly preferred: Perform endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedures. Round on hospitalized patients requiring GI care for approximately 8 hours per shift, with flexibility based on patient volume. Collaborate effectively with nurses, other physicians, and healthcare professionals within the hospital system. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records within the EPIC electronic medical record system. Qualifications: Active and unrestricted North Dakota (ND) medical license. Board-certified by the American Board of Gastroenterology (ABOG) is mandatory. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required. A valid DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) registration is required. Minimum of five years of experience in gastroenterology, with strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills. Experience in performing a variety of endoscopic procedures, including those listed above (ERCP highly preferred). Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and healthcare teams in both acute and consultative settings. Additional Considerations: This opportunity offers a predictable work schedule with 7-day rotations on-call each month. The locum tenens physician will be the sole GI provider on call, responsible for managing all GI consultations and procedures during their assigned week. There will be no clinic responsibilities associated with this role, focusing solely on hospital consults and patient care.
