The Director of Development plays a pivotal role in advancing Ascentria Care Alliance's fundraising by securing major grants from public entities, foundations, corporate and individual donors. This position is responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive grants and donor management strategy to achieve financial targets.

The Development Director will work closely with the advancement team, executive and programmatic leadership and cross-functionally across the organization to align fundraising strategies with organizational goals, ensuring high standards of grant management, donor stewardship, and alignment of best practices across the fundraising and development continuum.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning and Management:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive work plan for public, foundation, and corporate grants, including quantifiable goals, prospects, and renewals. Develop and execute an overall fundraising strategy. Manage a detailed calendar ensuring and facilitating adherence to submission, reporting, and outcome timelines. Facilitate internal and external alignment towards achieving outcomes set forth in above mentioned plans and strategy.
  • Grant Writing and Reporting:
    • Write and submit compelling grant applications and reports, collaborating with program directors and managers to gather necessary data and ensure compliance with funder requirements.
  • Donor and Grant Stewardship:
    • Build and maintain long-term relationships with public, foundation, and corporate donors, ensuring consistent engagement and satisfaction.
  • Collaboration and Oversight:
    • Work with the Contracts and Grants Supervisor to review and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of proposals and applications.
    • Assist other staff members in preparing grants, providing guidance and support to enhance their grant writing skills.
  • Development and Organizational Leadership:
    • Lead the Development team, contributing to the development and execution of Ascentria's fundraising and grants strategy.
    • Engage in planning and executing major donor appeals, campaigns, and events to enhance the organization's fundraising capacity.
  • Project Management and Facilitation:
    • Lead cross-functional project teams to develop and implement grant-funded initiatives, ensuring timely and successful execution.
    • Facilitate regular meetings with senior leadership to review project progress, address challenges, and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Hire, supervise, develop and evaluate direct reports.
    • Stay informed about programmatic changes, data, and stories that are useful in preparing grant proposals and reports.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to learning and enhancing skills that promote cultural competence and inclusion.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in development and administrative experience.
  • Demonstrated success meeting annual fundraising targets, preferably in a social services setting.
  • Proven ability to manage and track multiple prospects and donors.
  • Experience effectively building and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents.
  • Experience in event planning and volunteer coordination is preferred but not required
  • Ability to travel throughout the New England region (Up to 50%).
  • This is a hybrid position with the candidate residing in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Vermont.
