Description & Requirements

SMaximus is seeking a database architect/administrator to support a long-term contract with our federal intelligence and counterintelligence customer in Washington, D.C.

This is a hybrid work environment requiring approximately 20% of time located onsite at the customer's agency location and the remainder working remotely.

All candidates must be U.S. citizens with active TS/SCI or Q clearance.

Responsibilities:
• Responsible for data analysis, data architecture, database modeling, and implementation
• Design and implement solutions with an emphasis on high availability, scalability, disaster recovery, data security, and performance
• Participate in design meetings, design reviews, and system testing of web-based software systems
• Establish and promote database management principles, models, best practices, standards, and ensure their practical adoption
• Identify requirements, develop data models, perform data analysis, write SQL queries, design and code complex stored procedures, and performance tune existing database processes
• Research and implement new technologies to improve system performance and reliability

Requirements:
• Due to contract requirements, all candidates must be US citizens without dual citizenship. A Top Secret/SCI or Q/ SCI clearance is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
• 4+ years of experience monitoring and managing clustered enterprise database systems running on Microsoft SQL Server.
• 4+ years of experience performing modeling and design with a focus on performance optimization.

Minimum Requirements

TCS068, T2, Band 5

Preferred Skills:
• 3+ years of experience with ETL and data warehousing.
• 1+ years of experience managing databases on a variant of the Linux OS.
• Significant experience analyzing SQL query plans and tuning/optimization of queries/schemas to remediate database slowness.
• Proficiency with one or more database version control tools (Git, Liquibase, Flyway, etc.).
• Proficient in the use of one or more database management tools such as Redgate.
• Basic OS and networking skills and the ability to troubleshoot connectivity, synchronization, and replication issues.
• Experience administering and developing on MariaDB or MySQL.
• Configuration and management of clusters orchestrated by MaxScale or Galera.
• OLAP systems modeling and optimization in support of business intelligence solutions such as Power BI / Tableau.
• Implementation of ETL solutions using Apache NiFi and/or Apache Airflow.
• Experience implementing/facilitating data management and governance.
• Prior experience working in a classified environment.
• AWS and/or Azure cloud experience.

Pay Transparency

Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience. An applicant's salary history will not be used in determining compensation. Maximus will comply with regulatory minimum wage rates and exempt salary thresholds in all instances.
