Job Description:

We are looking for a corporate paralegal to join EyeCare Partners' growing legal department. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people and independently managing projects and day-to-day tasks and has experience in healthcare risk management. This role is crucial to maintaining and enhancing the organization's resilience and ability to navigate uncertainties effectively. You will play a key role in shaping the company's risk management strategy and culture, ensuring sustainable growth and operational excellence in a dynamic business environment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

General

  • Assisting in responding to Complaints from various state authorities (e.g., Attorney General Consumer Complaints, State Medical Boards, Better Business Bureau)
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of ECP's business units and insurance policies
  • Implementing and maintaining contracts, policies and other legal department records
  • Preparing and reviewing routine legal department documents, including business associate agreements, insurance claim forms, discovery request responses, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned
Risk Management
  • Collect incident information and provide guidance and direction to Practice staff and doctors as well as senior management on risk-related matters
  • Develop and implement an overall risk management strategy aligned with the company's objectives and collaborate with stakeholders to establish risk controls and monitoring mechanisms
  • Foster a risk-aware culture throughout the organization by promoting best practices and awareness programs
  • Lead the identification, assessment, and prioritization of risks across all business units and functional areas
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to risk management
  • Establish and support enforcement of risk management policies, procedures, and guidelines across the organization to reduce risk exposure
  • Conduct periodic risk assessments to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement
  • Communicate risk-related issues and trends effectively to ensure informed decision-making
Job Specifications:
  • Ability to prioritize work tasks to provide high-quality work product to meet internal and external deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, teamwork abilities, attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Strong proficiency working with Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel), and Adobe Acrobat; and agility to learn new software as needed
Required Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree or paralegal certificate required
  • Five (5) or more years of relevant experience as a risk management paralegal, preferably in the healthcare field
  • Ability to learn new areas quickly, take ownership of projects and work independently
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset
  • Notary Public desired
