Job Summary:
The Human Resource Director will lead and direct the overall functions, responsibilities, and initiatives of the Human Resources (HR) department, including talent acquisition and retention, payroll administration, benefits, employee engagement, company policies and practices, investigations, and leadership development. This position reports to the President of the company.

Job Summary:
The Human Resource Director will lead and direct the overall functions, responsibilities, and initiatives of the Human Resources (HR) department, including talent acquisition and retention, payroll administration, benefits, employee engagement, company policies and practices, investigations, and leadership development. This position reports to the President of the company.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Direct and lead the HR department in all areas of HR functions and activities.
- Oversee and provide contract management of external HR service providers.
- Develop and make recommendations regarding strategic plans, and improvements to policies and procedures in order to ensure best practices are implemented.
- Develop HR performance standards in support of company goals and objectives.
- Develop relationships and work collaboratively with key outside partners, vendors, union etc.
- Prepare management reports and analysis of HR activities and oversee all HR-related databases.
- Directs and manages talent acquisition process, including recruiting activities: sourcing, interviewing, onboarding, and new hire orientation, with the goal of timely staffing of all vacant positions.
- Maintain HR/personnel-related records in compliance with federal, state and local laws.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Communicate information regarding employee benefits plans and options to employees.
- Provide guidance to HR coordinators and managers on compliance issues, employee development, employee relations, discipline, terminations, occupational health and safety and union grievances (if applicable).
- Oversees and directs the investigation of unlawful harassment and discrimination complaints
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Participate in Company, employee recognition and community events as needed.
- Performs other HR-related duties as required.
Required Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent years of experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to work as and be viewed as a trusted member of the management team

Required Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in Human Resources, providing strategic and operational support with rapidly growing organization, with 5 years in management role.
- 3+ years' experience in a unionized workplace preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in Human Resources systems, and federal and state employment laws, procedures, and regulations.
- Proven HR leadership experience in developing the HR vision, strategy, and building, leading and motivating a HR team.
License/Certification:
Preferred: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
