Project Engineer / Project Manager

Company Overview

Verus is a boutique engineering and technical services firm specializing in industrial automation, controls, SCADA systems, business process engineering, and consulting for a wide array of industries. We have expertise in all aspects of systems integration, including electrical design, instrumentation, control panel design/build, programming, and commissioning.

Position Description

The ideal candidate for this position has strong experience in Prject Management, inclusing client facing functions, planning, budgeting, forecasting and coordinating engineering and system development to make sure they conform to requirements and scope and within budget and schedule. The candidate must be comfortable working in an office environment and field environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Project Management
  • Creates and executes project plans across multiple projects and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Partners with leadership on development and serves as liaison between engineering team and/or client across multiple projects.
  • Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope.
  • Minimizes our exposure and risk on project.
  • Manages project budget, and timeline ensuring projects stay on track.
  • Determines appropriate revenue recognition, ensures timely and accurate invoicing, and monitors receivables for assigned projects.

Technical Effort Management
  • Identifies reusable engineering and programming logic required for library and ensures the high-quality creation of deliverables.
  • Defines, communicates, and effectively applies our methodology and enforces engineering design and programming standards.
  • Manages multiple technical teams within budget and project schedule.
  • Consistently delivers high-quality services to our clients.
  • Reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to client.
  • Prepares for engineering design reviews and acceptance testing.
  • Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.

Business Development
  • Identifies business development and sales opportunities as they relate to a specific project.
  • Leads proposal efforts, including completing project scoping and estimating.
  • Effectively conveys our message in both written and verbal business development discussions.

Internal Operations
  • Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.
  • Approves team members' time and expense reports in a conscientious and timely manner.
  • Complies with and helps to enforce standard policies and procedures.
  • Trains other team members through both formal and informal training programs.

Technical Expertise
  • Knowledgeable/Understanding of with HMI/SCADA programming from stand-alone to redundant distributed.
  • Understands the benefits of the various programming languages and accurately suggests the use of the appropriate technology for the application .
  • Led the development of system specifications, sequence of operations, and control narratives based on client requirements
  • Possesses significant knowledge of client/server and virtualized systems architectures and accurately suggests the use of the appropriate technology for the application.
  • Understands the development of testing plans and conducting factory and site testing
  • Specify and configure instruments
  • Commissioning of systems (some remote travel required)
  • Perform, and lead, system commissioning, and field support functions


Requirements

Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited school
  • Minimum 3 years as Project manager / Project Engineer.
  • Experience with proposals, cost estimates and SOW.
  • Client facing / Client Service, and Sales acumen required.
  • Strong Communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Self-motivated, energetic individual with a can-do attitude.
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in Industrial Automation field.
