IT Security Engineer

The IT Security Engineer is a hands-on technical role dedicated to the comprehensive security management of the organization's IT environment. Key responsibilities include securing and managing Azure, Entra ID, O365, antivirus solutions, email filtering, SSL certificates, virtualization platforms, websites, databases, and third-party applications. This role also involves implementing security hardening measures for both software and hardware, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, and monitoring security appliances to maintain strong, proactive defenses.

This position has the ability to be HYBRID if near our Bala Cynwyd, PA office or REMOTE based on the candidate's location.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Perform security hardening of software, hardware, and network devices, ensuring compliance with security standards.
• Oversee antivirus deployment and configuration, ensuring endpoint protection and policy compliance.
• Oversee email security solutions (e.g., Mimecast, Darktrace or similar) to protect against phishing, malware, and other threats, while responding to security incidents.
• Handle SSL/TLS and other security certificates.
• Manage vendor selection and project oversight for internal and external penetration tests, addressing and documenting vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate with the IT Security Analyst and other teams to integrate security best practices across systems and applications, providing guidance and training as needed.
• Document all work in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain system architecture documentation using visualization tools like Visio.
• Implement and manage network security, including firewalls, VPNs, and system administration tasks.
• Secure virtual environments and manage virtual machines, adhering to best practices for virtualization security.
• Assess and secure third-party applications, implement secure coding practices, and conduct code reviews.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies, conducting risk assessments and managing vulnerabilities.
• Stay current on security trends and technologies, recommending improvements to enhance security.
• Handle ad hoc projects as required.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications such as, CompTIA & Microsoft certifications (Security+ & Network+ and SC-200, AZ-900, AZ-800 & AZ-104) are a plus.

Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in IT security roles with a focus on Azure, Entra ID, O365, Antivirus & Email.
• Proven experience with security hardening of software and hardware.
• Strong knowledge of application security, including websites, databases, access control, and third-party services.
• Experience with Darktrace, Mimecast, Defender, VPN's, virtualization platforms, a SIEM & the SQL language are a plus

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in security technologies including firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, encryption tools, and antivirus solutions.
• Strong understanding of network security, identity and access management, policy creation and implementation and secure coding practices.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and security standards

Soft Skills:

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a global team.
• Ability to effectively teach and cross-train your fellow IT team members

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to travel
• Working on a computer for 6-8 hours a day

Salary Range: $105,000 - $130,000 annual base + bonus potential
