Platform Engineer
CFD Research Corporation, Huntsville, AL
CFD Research has a need for a qualified Platform Engineer to support external customers in developing platforms, applications and microservices using data, stored in the cloud.
Candidates in the role will work with a diverse set of developers, to deliver strong, stable, and well tested/documented software for an external customer. The candidate will be intimately involved in the design, build, and maintenance of the platforms that developers use to build and deploy applications to. Successful candidates in this role will utilize best practices to produce high performing, scalable, and secure platforms while demonstrating a customer/end user focus. Successful candidates will have Agile, DevOps experience, and an understanding of cloud environments in order to work collaboratively with other developers, government customers, and contractors.
This role is based at CFD Research office in the Huntsville, Alabama area, and onsite is required. There may opportunity for Telework flexibility, depending on experience level.
Basic Qualifications:
• Candidate must be a US Citizen and meet eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Top-Secret Clearance
• Candidate must possess a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a similar STEM discipline
• Ability to collaborate and communicate with teammates and stakeholders from a technical and mission impact standpoint
• Experience with one or more of the following: Kubernetes, Istio, Helm, Git, Linux, Python, or Bash
• Experience with Platform One, Cloud One, GCP, AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms
• Experience architecting cloud solutions which meet the company's needs for performance, scalability, security, and cost efficiency
• Experience with designing and implementing the core infrastructure components of a platform, such as networking, storage, and compute resources.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity, understanding, and adaptability to following agile project processes.
• Three or more years of experience as a Software Engineer specializing in DevSecOps and/or Platform Engineering.
• Three or more years of experience in development and/or hands-on technical troubleshooting support of container-based microservices architectures
• Strong understanding of software architecture principles and design patterns
• Past successes in development, deployment, and maintenance of cloud-based platform solutions.
• Relevant industry certifications:
o Certified Kubernetes Administrator, CISSP, CCSP, Security+, Cloud+, and any other cloud relevant certifications
• Development experience with a container-native workflow engine for orchestrating parallel jobs on Kubernetes.
• Experience utilizing document store databases, such as Elasticsearch, OpenSearch and MongoDB
• Experience with distributed event store and stream-processing platforms like Apache Kafka
• Experience with object storage systems like MinIO
