Robert Half is recruiting an Associate Attorney (Employment Law) for a delightful boutique law firm in downtown San Francisco (can work mostly remotely). This L& E Associate position is about half defense litigation work and half advice & counsel practice. It's a fantastic opportunity for an experienced employment litigator to manage with autonomy the case load and relationships with human resources managers and executives at the firm's clients in various industries, life sciences & biotech, AI software and tech startups, small and mid-sized retail and B2B enterprises, and nonprofits.
Responsibilities include:
• Defense of single plaintiff, class action, and PAGA litigation concerning labor & employment claims in state and Federal courts;
• Represent clients in administrative proceedings (e.g., EEOC, DFEH) as well as in arbitration, mediation, and settlement conferences;
• Conduct workplace investigations;
• Prepare employee handbooks and management training; and
• Significant amount of advice & counsel and HR compliance work.
Qualifications:
• 2++ years of employment litigation practice, including handling wage & hour lawsuits;
• Experience conducting and defending depositions and arguing dispositive motions;
• Active and in good standing with State Bar of California; and
• Strong work ethic & good sense of humor.
This is a unique, up-and-coming law firm (with very friendly, good-natured shareholders and team) offering partnership track and ample legal secretary support, and true pro bono practice. Salary range is $140,000 - 230,00/yr, DOE, and year-end bonus as well as production bonuses. Requirements
- Demeanor to thrive in a high-paced environment, requiring exceptional organizational skills, juggling priorities, and adhering to strict deadlines
- First-rate academic credentials and references
- Must possess analytical, legal research and writing skills
- Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
- Licensed attorney with 3+ years of employment litigation experience
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively throughout all levels of the company
- Counseling experience preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of discrimination, EEOC claims
- Experience with drafting motions
- Proficiency in employment discrimination law
- Good familiarity with discovery
- Adeptness in defense litigation
- Comprehensive knowledge of employer-side employment law
