A Brief Overview
The Xing Lab is broadly interested in computational biology and genomics of RNA processing and regulation, as well as their applications to human genetics, precision medicine, and cancer immunotherapy.
The Xing laboratory at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania seeks an experienced research Technician to assist in running a busy experimental laboratory, including conducting routine molecular cloning, PCR, bacteria culture, plasmid extraction, transformation, mammalian cell culture, western blot, ELISA, immunostaining/microscopy experiments. The candidate hired for this position would be expected to remaining in the lab for at least 2 years if applicable.
What you will do
- Perform Molecular cloning (PCR, bacteria culture, plasmid extraction, transformation, mammalian cell culture, western blot, ELISA, immunostaining/Microscopy.
- Formulate and perform lab experiments, analyze results, interpret methodology, report data, and maintain appropriate log books and lab notebook
- Assist in development and troubleshooting of new techniques and ideas
- Prepare lab reagents, monitor and maintain lab inventory
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior and new staff members
- Present and discuss work at weekly lab meetings and national symposia
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Required
Experience Qualifications
- At least three (3) years of classroom and directly relevant and progressive (increasingly complex/ advanced) lab experience Required
- At least two (2) years of full time lab tech experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced understanding of lab procedures, protocols, and equipment.
- Molecular cloning (PCR, bacteria culture, plasmid extraction, transformation)
- Mammalian cell culture
- Western Blot
- ELISA
- Immunostaining/ Microscopy
