The team is looking for a motivated Software Development Engineer, focused on Network Stack Performance, to help improve the efficiency of the protocols, libraries, APIs, and applications across all our platforms. In collaboration with other development teams, you will participate in design, coding, testing and characterization of our new technologies, in a wide variety or today's networking environments.DescriptionThe ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, be self-driven to work across various organizations across Apple, balance multiple assignments in parallel, and have the acumen and strength to persuade and influence stakeholders. The candidate also needs to show initiative, ability to take ownership of a problem area, and demonstrate an ability to understand the group’s technology in the larger context of the product and services. The role will require close collaboration with various cross-functional development and performance teams, and will benefit from a candidate with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and having a passion for improving User Experience in Mobile environments. As a Software Engineer in the Network Performance Engineering team, you role will include: -performance development in our protocols and APIs frameworks -end-to-end investigations of performance issues in applications, operating systems and servers -design and implementation of tools to analyze and improve network performance -characterization and benchmarking of Networking related features, across a variety of Apple platformsMinimum QualificationsBS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent networking software development experienceStrong software design and development skills including; C, C++, ObjC, or Swift programming language experienceExperience with HTTP and web networking technologiesPreferred QualificationsStrong problem solving and troubleshooting skillsStrong focus on distributed systems and server environmentsExcellent communication skills and ability to work with multi-functional engineering teamExperience with the TCP/IP suite of protocolsExperience developing scripts and toolsmacOS and iOS development experience, Xcode and Apple development toolsApplication, Library, Framework or API development experienceExperience with system performance toolsTrack record of shipping productsAbility to stay focused and prioritize a heavy workload while achieving extraordinary qualityExperience with Network debugging tools (e.g. packet sniffers, protocol analyzers)Benchmarking design and implementation experienceExperience configuring network equipments (Switches, Routers, NATs, Firewalls, VMs, …) in lab environment a plusWireless and Cellular technologies experience a plusYou are innovative, flexible, and results oriented with a positive attitudePay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
