DescriptionControllerWe are searching for a controller for a family-owned home building company based in San Antonio, TX who fosters a small, relaxed, and team-oriented office environment. They are growing and are eager to strengthen their team with a hands-on Controller to oversee comprehensive financial and operational accounting functions. This is a brand new position for the firm based on growth! Role Summary: The Controller will function as a financial leader in our company, working hand in hand with the Co-Owner. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in enhancing our financial performance, managing treasury functions, ensuring compliance, and implementing new accounting processes and procedures.Responsibilities: · Oversee the AP processor and administrative team. · Manage construction draws and banking relationships. · Administer treasury functions and handle transactions of 3 different bank accounts. · Develop and implement new accounting processes and procedures. · Prepare annual budgets, perform financial forecasting, and offer strategic financial input. · Verify compliance with financial regulations through timely reporting. · Execute general ledger reconciliation and journal entries. · Guide the team with your knowledge of home building or as a Controller with a General Contractor Qualifications: · CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification is strongly preferred. · Proven experience with AIA Billing is required. · Background in working for a general contractor is a must with construction draws. · Familiarity with Brix and/or JD Edwards software will be advantageous. · Strong capabilities in general ledger reconciliation and journal entries. · Solid understanding of financial reporting, compliance, and treasury functions. · Proven experience in budget preparation and financial forecasting. · Prior experience in managing banking relationships is required. · Demonstrated experience in the creation and implementation of new accounting processes and procedures.Personal Skills: · Positive, proactive attitude and able to work on site M-F 8-5 · Naturally inquisitive mindset. · Passion for accounting and continuous process improvement. · Strong leadership skills. · Desire to help the company grow its accounting team in the coming years.Requirements• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role or related field • Proficiency in accounting functions and understanding of the general ledger • Experience with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) • Knowledge and experience in auditing processes • Familiarity with budget processes, including planning and execution • Experience with JD Edwards or Brix Software preferred • Understanding and application of AIA billing and AIA documents • Experience in corporate treasury functions • Skills in financial reporting and financial statement preparation • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities • Ability to work in a team environment and independently when needed • Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred • detail oriented certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is a plus.Job typePerm
