Position Description:

Designs and develops enterprise analytics platforms in support of data services using SQL and Python. Builds data and systems solutions with enterprise data lakes and Cloud data platforms -- Snowflake. Builds cost optimization solutions for the analytical platform Snowflake. Implements audit, security, and risk controls to secure data in on-premise and Cloud. Works in an Agile development environment using Jira and Jira Align. Uses platforms and tools to support technical day-to-day activities -- Snowflake, Python, Shell scripting, Oracle, Golden gate, Oracle Apex, and Power BI.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Improves and maintains database performance.
  • Performs application database administration.
  • Manages and processes large data sets distributed on multi-server, distributed systems from inception to execution.
  • Participates in database design discussions and offers consulting services to business and data modelers.
  • Develops standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information.
  • Develops methods for integrating products to work properly together.
  • Provides advice and recommendations to organization-wide database decisions.
  • Consults on the automation of multiple recoverability options across multiple technologies and databases for the organization.
  • Evaluates and designs standards related to technology direction changes.
  • Evaluates and selects database maintenance tools or designs tools/processes.
  • Consults on the maintenance of technical standards and guidelines for the effective use of databases.
  • Architects the capacity management and performance-tuning of databases.
  • Architects automated database testing solutions.
  • Oversees the technical implementation of cross-divisional or company architectural components.
  • Develops security plans which considers data security requirements and operational procedures to ensure data integrity, physical protection, and authorized access to the network.
  • Establishes processes that ensure the coherence of systems objects and their relationship when the system is deployed.
  • Develops best practices and procedures for database administration within enterprise.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Applications, Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Database Administrator (or closely related occupation) performing Database Administration and performance optimization.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Applications, Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Database Administrator (or closely related occupation) performing Database Administration and performance optimization.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") providing Snowflake onboarding using multiple roles - Account, Security, and System Administrator -- to manage Snowflake environments in Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, and GCP; performing DBA activities (cloning databases and creating, altering, and updating tables, views, file formats, and data) and creating Snow pipe for continuous data load, using Snowflake UlI/SnowCLI or third party tools -- Datadog, Power B1, Tableau, or Snaplogic.
  • DE monitoring job activities, scheduling runs, and creating and leading disaster recovery setup and runbooks, failover groups, and schemas using Snowflake UI/SnowCLI, Unix Shellscript, Crontab or third party tools -- Datadog, Power BI, Tableau, or Snaplogic -- to connect to Snowflake; and developing SQL queries, Stored Procedures, and data mining in collaboration with database developers and BI teams using Snowflake UI/SnowCLI or third party tools that can connect to Snowflake.
  • DE analyzing and documenting requirements and supporting user acceptance for functional and technical specifications using JIRA, Confluence, or ServiceNow.
  • DE configuring and integrating BI tools with Big Data; and creating aggregations, calculated fields, table calculations, totals, and percentages using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
