Job Description:Job SummaryThe Director, Strategic Sourcing (Mechanical) position will be based out of Fremont, California. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the mechanical sourcing function in ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing and procurement of mechanical components for Solar tracker.Job description:Develop and execute a comprehensive sourcing strategy for mechanical components for Nextracker products aligning it with the overall organizational objectives.Identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and establish strategic partnerships to ensure a robust supply chain.Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing performance to ensure the highest quality standards and delivery timelines.Continuously evaluate supplier performance, including cost, quality, engineering support and reliability, and implement corrective actions when necessary.Collaborate with suppliers to drive innovation, cost reduction initiatives, and process improvements.Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as engineering, operations, and quality assurance, to align sourcing activities with production requirements and quality standards.Drive cost reduction initiatives through effective negotiation, supplier selection, and value engineering.Conduct regular cost analyses, identify areas of cost improvement, and implement strategies to optimize the overall cost structure.Monitor and manage the budget for mechanical sourcing activities, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost control.Develop and implement effective procurement processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies.Identify and mitigate risks related to the sourcing and procurement of mechanical components, such as supply chain disruptions, quality issues, or supplier financial instability.Develop and implement contingency plans to minimize the impact of potential disruptions on the organization's operations.Monitor market trends, pricing, and availability of mechanical components, and adjust sourcing strategies accordingly.Stay informed about industry regulations, market dynamics, and emerging trends related to mechanical sourcing and procurement.Manage and strengthen a high-performing mechanical sourcing team, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities.Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability within the team.Set clear performance goals, measure results, and provide regular feedback to ensure the team's success.Required Qualification & Experience:15+ years of experience with strong knowledge of all supply chain verticals with focus on strategic sourcing for mechanical parts such as tools, fasteners, gear boxes, tubes, dampers, actuators, sheet metal parts, enclosures, castings etc.Has strong experience managing a supplier base and a team spread across the globe.Deep knowledge about manufacturing process and mechanical assemblies.Must be a skilled negotiator, highly analytical, creative and an effective communicator.High degree of autonomy and accountability for results.Preferred Qualification & Experience:Willingness to travel (30%) to Asia and EU & within US.Relocation: Not eligibleIs Sponsorship Available?NoPay Range (Applicable to California)$159,800.00 USD - $219,700.00 USD AnnualAt Nextracker, we are leading in the energy transition, providing the most comprehensive portfolio of intelligent solar tracker and software solutions for solar power plants, as well as strategic services to capture the full value of solar power plants for our customers.
