Who we want... (Requirements)

The successful candidate must have bachelors' degree and at least five (5) years' experience in insurance, surety, risk management, broker, construction finance/accounting, construction project management, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Management experience is preferred, but not required.

Telecommuting is acceptable. The successful candidate must be willing to travel periodically to Gray offices and otherwise, on an as-needed basis.

The successful candidate should be a self-motivated individual with excellent analytical, financial, organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. They must be able to use critical thinking to effectively solve problems and must possess a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The successful candidate must have the ability to work in a high demand, rapid paced environment, managing several open items concurrently and reprioritizing based on project or team needs.

What we expect... (Essential Functions)

Working with Director of Corporate Risk, this position will play a crucial role in managing and enhancing all aspects of Gray's Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI) program and Contractor Controlled Insurance Program (CCIP). The key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop, implement, and oversee SDI and CCIP risk management strategies to protect Gray's interests and ensure the successful use and completion of these construction insurance programs.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices related to SDI and CCIP for construction projects. Ensure compliance with industry standards, legal requirements, and company policies.
  • Supervise and coordinate SDI and CCIP program administration, including but not limited to, coverage evaluation, renewals, reporting, premium allocations, promoting program utilization, and management of broker and insurer relationships.
  • Work closely with project teams to ensure the effective integration of SDI and CCIP into project planning and execution.
  • Analyze and understand insurable project risks and potential risk mitigation opportunities; educate and interact with project team and other functional departments to ensure coordination between project activities, exposures, costs, and appropriate insurance coverage.
  • Overseas claims management process and reporting for SDI and CCIP, working closely with project teams, insurance brokers, claims administrators, insurance carriers and other stakeholders. Investigate and analyze claims, assisting with resolution and mitigation.
  • Assist with contract review and negotiations related to SDI and CCIP.
  • Collaborate with risk management team to ensure alignment with and consistency in risk management strategies across all insurance programs. Provide input on other programs, contributing to a holistic approach to corporate risk management.
  • Oversee subcontractor and vendor insurance prequalification and certificate tracking. Provide oversight of insurance issues and approval process.
  • Manage and prompt responsiveness to day-to-day interaction between project teams, risk management team, other functional departments, brokers and insurers related to Gray's risk management and insurance issues.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, insurance brokers, and other stakeholders regarding risk management strategies and programs.
  • Conduct training sessions to educate project teams on SDI and CCIP policies and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in risk management processes and strategies.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends in the construction industry, including thorough working knowledge of insurance products, coverage, and pricing.
  • Work with other member of risk management team on special projects and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
