government grants/contracts and other donor funds. They will provide high quality and timely data and analysis for strategic decision support; working collaboratively with the COO on strategic matters, policies and priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Direct, support, and perform the duties of general and international accounting, multi-entity consolidation, internal and external financial reporting, budgeting and analysis, and cash management.
- Ensure the integrity of financial systems and data or all internal and external financial reporting
Current financial systems include MIP for general accounting and Adaptive as the database for management performance reporting.
- Manage the annual external audit and ensure compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), applicable regulatory and governance requirements including internal policies and procedures, donor requirements, and municipal bond covenants.
- Collaborate with and support the development, implementation, and oversight of required financial systems, policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Provide timely and strategic decision support for the COO and other key stakeholders.
- Serve with the COO as key staff for the Finance Committee of the Board and stand in when needed.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
- A minimum of 10 years of work experience, with at least 5 years' experience as Controller for an international NGO with a minimum annual budget of $50 million and operating US Government funded programs in at least 10 countries
- An active CPA with a minimum of 3 years of experience with a large regional or national CPA firm is preferred
- Experience working with various non-USG public donors (e.g., EU, FCDO)
- Knowledge of U.S
Government regulations - Experience with MIP for general accounting and/or related accounting software like Adaptive preferred
- Exceptional analytical and innovative problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines and competing priorities
- Effective communicator, able to convey complex financial matters to non-financially trained professionals
