Job Title : PowerBI Developer

Location : Remote (EST)

Duration : 6 + months

Job Description

  • Power BI Development: Expert-level proficiency in creating complex reports and dashboards using Power BI that are visually pleasing, highly functional, and efficient.
  • Dimensions and Facts/Measures: Expert-level understanding and experience in implementing dimensions and facts/measures in Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • DAX: Strong skills in Data Analysis Expressions for creating complex custom calculations, aggregations, measures, and dimensions.
  • Data Modeling: Ability to design and implement a semantic layer in Power BI including data hierarchies, relationships, star schemas, etc. Experience in incorporating data sources from cloud databases such as Snowflake.
  • SQL: Strong SQL skills, as many of the data sources they might connect to will likely be SQL-based (like Snowflake).
  • Power Query: Experience in data transformation and ETL processes using Power Query and the M language.
  • Power BI Service & Report Server Deployment: Experience in deploying and scheduling processes, dashboards, reports, etc.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of related experience in the use of Power BI software
  • 4+ years' experience gathering business requirements, conducting technical analysis and design, coding, testing, and implementations of customizations within an enterprise development environment
  • The ability to come up to speed quickly on new projects and clients
  • Strong requirements analysis skills to help clients understand and meet their business objectives
  • Experience with multiple RMDB's such as Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle, Redshift,
    • Advanced SQL querying
  • Willingness and ability to assist the team in solving complex problems
  • Be a proactive contributor to the larger team
  • Strong data communication skills
  • Aptitude for interpreting data outputs and articulating findings to managers. The candidate should be comfortable telling stories with data and helping stakeholders understand what matters and what steps they can take to help their business
  • Consulting experience preferred, strong communication skill


Bonus Qualifications

  • Power BI Service & Report Server: Experience in deploying, configuring, and managing Power BI Service (cloud) and/or Power BI Report Server (on-prem/cloud VMs).
  • Administration & Governance: Skills in managing workspaces, apps, and datasets in Power BI Service. Understands best practices for report lifecycle management, version control, and data governance.
  • Power BI Dataflows: Experience with self-service data preparation using Power BI dataflows. Familiarity with integrating Power BI dataflows, applying ETL at scale, and setting up dataflow refresh schedules.
  • Power BI Gateway: Knowledge of setting up and managing Power BI Gateway for on-premises data refresh scenarios (like Tableau Bridge).
  • Formal Business Analysis tools and methodologies (Experience writing Business Requirements Documents, BPMN, Development Life Cycle activities, agile/scrum, etc)
  • Additional Business Intelligence/Reporting Tools (Tableau, Qlik, Domo, Looker, SSRS, Oracle, Superset, Business Objects, Snowflake)
  • Data virtualization tools (Dremio, Denodo)
  • Familiarity with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) tools and methodologies (Alteryx, SSIS, DataIKU, Talend)
  • Understanding of data storage and warehousing concepts (normalization, dimensional models, data staging)
  • Exposure to data science concepts and applications
  • Experience utilizing REST APIs
