Company Overview

The Assembly Lead can, under limited supervision, performs assembly and sub assembly level repairs, builds, and upgrades by following Assembly Instructions and working to drawings. Appropriately apply working knowledge and practical use of applicable IPC standards, workmanship and quality standards and requirements to produce high quality products.

Responsibilities

Typical Duties Include:

    Verify the conformance of products in accordance with documented procedures ensuring high-quality levels at various stages of production.
  • Ability to provide written and verbal direction, read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, wire lists, connector pin outs, solder and build various types of boards, wires and wire harnesses by laying out wires, crimping and populating various connectors.
  • Accurate and extensive use of basic hand tools, crimp tools, and soldering irons.
  • Advanced electro/mechanical assembly knowledge to perform routine and/or complex tasks
  • Ability to accurately complete sub and higher-level assembly builds working from moderate to complex drawings and work instruction
  • Proven approach to support teams/engineering to effectively communicate process and product improvement opportunities using a professional team approach
  • Moderate level of computer proficiency with high level of computer hardware knowledge
  • Capable of troubleshooting electro and mechanical failure modes. Work with internal customers and suppliers to identify root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Ability to use test equipment to validate product quality and reliability.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement culture and Lean metric reporting.
  • Work with other team members and various support teams to share knowledge continually driving improvement opportunity in products and processes.
  • Ability to solder and/or crimp various sizes of wire and cable, and ability to assemble/solder PCB, through hole and surface mounts.
  • Become a mentor and trainer delivering "on the job" training to lower level assemblers fostering a team approach and continuous improvement culture.
  • Must be capable of effectively completing assembly builds on complex 1st article assemblies.

Other Duties Include:

  • Lead daily stand-up meetings.
  • Keep up with product line metrics.
  • Lead and guide assembly team members to meet daily goal expectations.
Required Experience/Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 5+ years' experience as an Electro/Mechanical II and/or relevant experience and proven proficiency (external recruiting only) in electro-mechanical assembly/rework experience in a manufacturing or repair environment.
  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer to navigate on-line documents, drawings, and instructions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written work instructions which may be technical in nature.
  • Soldering experience using IPC J standard
  • Must be able to perform a variety of operations to assemble/rework/modify electronic and electromechanical products to include:
    • Works from diagrams and drawings
    • Perform circuit card assembly and repair
    • Use hand tools such as crimpers, cutters, and soldering irons
  • Prior experience working in a team-oriented environment
  • Prior manufacturing leadership experience.
Special Requirements/Security Clearance
  • Candidates must be U.S. Persons as defined in the ITAR, 22 CFR 120.15 (U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien Status) and as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101(a) (20).


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is regularly required to sit and occasionally climb or balance; use hands to touch, use hands and arms to reach forward and overhead. The employee must frequently lift up to 35 pounds unassisted, and occasionally assist moving up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include color, close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. May be required to work with hazardous materials.

The work environment is frequently performed in a climate-controlled environment and occasionally in a non-climate-controlled setting. The employee may be exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is considered low to moderate in the manufacturing area.
