Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a Natural Resources Senior Consultant to support work in Georgia. This position will be responsible for managing tasks and projects, making successful handoffs to project teams, sponsoring individual projects, and developing new business. This team supports industries that include but are not limited to residential and commercial permitting, mitigation/conservation banking, water resources, roadway, natural gas pipelines, Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) facilities, solar facilities, and energy. This position can be based out of any Stantec Georgia office location or within a reasonable distance.

Your Key Responsibilities
• Provide technical leadership and project management on a wide variety of environmental planning and wetland permitting projects for clients in the renewable energy, transportation, and development sectors.
• Project management responsibilities include developing proposals; managing projects and budgets; coordinating with clients, stakeholders, and internal project staff; and performing and overseeing project technical work.
• Develop and maintain positive client relationships, including seeking opportunities for new business.
• Complete WOUS delineations and assessments, vegetation inventories/monitoring, wildlife surveys and habitat assessments, aquatic assessments.
• Prepare National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Environmental Assessments (EAs) for submittal to different federal authorities for proposed development projects.
• Prepares work plans, assembles project team, delegates tasks and ensures compliance with scope and timely completion of tasks.
• Manage agency coordination related to Threatened and Endangered Species, CWA Sections 404/401, and Section 106 Cultural Resources and coordinate and review technical documents that support regulatory submissions.
• Support and ensure implementation of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work and coordinate with HSE professionals during the execution of all phases of project planning and implementation.
• Effectively supervise, lead, recruit, challenge and inspire staff to work together by being a visible leader.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
• Experience in managing and providing environmental consulting services to project developers in support of project siting, design, and permit applications is essential.
• Local, state, and Federal compliance and environmental assessment and permitting (including agency coordination) experience with the and Georgia state agencies.
• The successful candidate understands the informational requirements of key permits at the local, state, national, and federal level (e.g. United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), NEPA, Endangered Species Act (ESA), Section 404 CWA/Section 10 Rivers and Harbors Act (RHA), Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GDNR) Erosion and Sediment Rules and Regulations, United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and GDNR Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) Species evaluations and coordination).
• Specific understanding of USACE Savannah District mitigation standard operating procedures, or Georgia Stream Buffer Variance processes, or Georgia Department of Transportation data collection and reporting procedures, a plus.
• Previous experience performing wetland delineations and habitat evaluations for protected species.
• Have connections and business development experience in the energy, residential, commercial industries within the Southeastern U.S.
• A professional certification (Professional Wetland Scientist, Project Manager Professional, Professional Wildlife Biologist, Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission-Georgia Environmental Protection Division Erosion and Sediment, etc.), preferred.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, biological resources or closely related field.
• Minimum of 10-12+ years' experience providing or managing technical services in a professional services setting, preferable in the Southeastern US (experience in Georgia is required).
• 5 years' experience in a client facing role (including business development and/or client management).
