This Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a full-time Stream Restoration Engineer to support our stream restoration projects. Are you a water resources engineer who enjoys project design, especially in support of ecosystem restoration and, more specifically, in stream channel restoration in natural settings? Are you looking for an opportunity to work with an international company in the Southeast Region, to help grow a team of stream restoration professionals? We have an excellent opportunity for a design engineer focused on technical problems, particularly stream restoration. In this position, you will design and analyze engineering projects, manage tasks, develop new business opportunities, and lead the design team. This position can be located in FL or NC and will support stream projects in both states and throughout the region. WSP has established stream restoration clients and projects and the steady demand for our services is rising rapidly.

Your Impact
  • Serves as a design engineer on stream restoration projects
  • Work collaboratively with civil designers/stream restoration engineers to serve client needs in the Southeast Region (FL, GA, SC, NC)
  • Deliver quality products to clients on schedule
  • Lead and mentor a team of early and mid-career engineers and scientists
  • Conduct both field and office tasks associated with water-resources projects, particularly stream restoration projects
  • Use relevant technology
  • Prepare calculations, design and make recommendations for water-resources facilities
  • Prepare / assist in the preparation of permit applications and supporting materials
  • Author construction bid documents, technical documents, permit applications, and proposals
  • Must be able to market clients and prepare proposals
  • Follow company safety policies and procedures, site safety standards and permit requirements
  • Performs Hydrologic and Hydraulic modeling using a variety of software including ICPR, HEC-HMS/RAS, and SWMM
  • Performs stream restoration analysis and design to restore channels to a more historic condition
  • Performs wetland restoration analysis and design to restore large decommissioned agricultural sites to a more historic condition.
  • Remain current in latest water resource engineering techniques.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water Resources or closely related discipline
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge in water resources, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stream restoration and other related engineering disciplines
  • Minimum Professional Engineer License and ability to obtain Florida PE within 6 months
  • Knowledge of engineering and other environmental issues in Southeast region
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge of H&H modeling (ICRP4, HECRAS, etc.)
  • Strong engineering design skills and the ability to translate project designs into construction plans
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to prepare reports and setup spreadsheets
  • Attention to detail
  • Works well in Team environment
  • Proficiency in using ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD
  • Must pass background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with WSP's driving (MVR) policy
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek
  • Must be able to travel locally and out of area when necessary
  • The position is located in Southeast Region, supporting projects in Central FL
