Schedule: This position may work irregular shifts, day or night, weekday or weekend and requires scheduled/unscheduled overtime, including evenings, weekends and holidays and/or immediate response to emergency conditions.

General Purpose of the Position: This is specialized technical work managing a multitude of camera systems during evenings and weekends, physical and digital crime scene assessment, combined with the collection, preservation, extraction and analysis of all video/electronic devices supporting police investigations. The DFE would also provide technical support during the execution of search warrants, during operations requiring or involving video/electronic equipment, and perform other operational duties as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conducting thorough and documented preservation, extraction, and analysis of camera systems and electronic devices in support of Criminal Investigations.
• Manages evidence logs.
• Assess crime scenes, both physical and digital, and assists with the execution of search warrants of either.
• Identifies, collects, inventories, and stores evidence items in a secure manner.
• Conducts forensic examinations of various media.
• Documents procedure and findings in official police reports. Collects items of evidence for analysis from affiliates and local agents. Assists with that preparation.
• Testifies in criminal or civil matters.
• Acts as liaison to outside related governmental, educational and non-profit agencies. Assists with school and community presentations.
• Assists with traveler operations, specific to on-site camera surveillance and forensics. Assists with human trafficking investigations.

Skills and Physical Abilities Required:
• Knowledge and understanding of search warrant language and how to gain authority.
• Knowledge of how to conduct consent-based searches, and associated authority, scope, and restrictions.
• Ability to communicate clearly, orally and in writing, and to make accurate, factual, concise well-organized reports and presentations.
• Ability to work in close quarters in undercover environments.
• Ability to conduce equipment demonstrations and conduct public speaking.
• Ability to work in small groups.
• Skill of on-scene digital devise preview and triaging.
• Skill in on-scene live acquisition of devises running encryption. Skill in social media investigations.
• Skill in desktop, laptop, and mobile device forensic analysis.
• Ability to plan, organize and use mature judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions in accordance with established policy.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
• The work is light, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Additional requirements include: balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking. (Occasional=1-3 hours; Frequent=3-5 hours; Constant=5-8 hours per work day.)
Equipment Used: Computer, camera, alternative light source, video knowledge, super glue fuming.
Education and Experience Required: Associates Degree in Forensics with at least one (1) year of experience in computer forensics. Law enforcement experience preferred. IACIS and CFCE preferred. Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Florida driver's license.
