The successful candidate will partner with PayPal's Enterprise Sales teams to negotiate some of the most strategic and complex transactions with PayPal's merchants spanning all of PayPal's product and service offerings globally.The position will involve drafting and negotiating highly complex multinational agreements (including with large global merchant organizations) and providing sophisticated, quick, concise, and high-quality legal advice. The negotiations will include coordinating cross-functionally within PayPal to effectively craft deal strategies and to provide innovative advice for PayPal (including in the area of cross border payment services). Ideally this attorney will be well-versed in technology, licensing, and payment/financial services (including payments product solutions), with a critical eye towards risk and regulatory issues. Because the job will involve a large amount of drafting, editing, and writing, exceptional writing skills are an absolute necessity.The ideal candidate will be a confident self-starter with strong interpersonal and organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to: effectively and proactively provide sound legal advice; juggle a high volume of deal work and legal projects; build credibility with business partners; exercise good business judgment; work with senior management; and implement policies and processes on a cross-functional basis in a fast-paced environment. Other qualifications include:Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree, with state bar membershipAt least 8 years’ experience practicing either in-house or at a law firmAt least 2 years’ experience managing large deal closings that involved tracking the status of interrelated agreements, triggers, and stakeholder requirementsExperience directly negotiating complex sales, marketing, or partner agreements with external partiesExperience working with multiple client-side stakeholders such as: sales, privacy, product, regional counsel, risk, and regulatoryAbility to spot issues and problems, take initiative, find solutions, make recommendations, organize internal coordination, bring about decisions and implement changeDemonstrated ability to effectively navigate legal, compliance and business needsExceptional attention to detail and ability to generate creative original legal documentsHands-on experience, either as outside or inside counsel, to financial services, fintech or technology companiesOutstanding communication skills and ability to work both in teams and independentlyStrong negotiation and interpersonal skills and the ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders across the globeExperience in paymentsAbility to be highly engaged and succeed in a collaborative environmentAdditional Job Description:Subsidiary:PayPalTravel Percent:0-PayPal is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.Actual Compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to work location, and relevant skills and experience.The total compensation for this practice may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation, as applicable), equity, and medical, dental, vision, and other benefits.
