Minimum qualifications:Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).5 years of experience in cloud networking, network architecture (e.g., enterprise, data center, WAN), or system architecture, with experience leading networking development initiatives.3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing strategic projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.2 years of experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration frameworks.Preferred qualifications:Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.3 years of experience with Linux kernel, and deep understanding of kernel internals, particularly in networking, with experience in areas like in-kernel networking and eBPF.Experience with data plane and control plane development. Familiarity with both data plane and control plane elements, enabling effective design and implementation of networking solutions.Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices, with experience in designing and implementing secure networking solutions. As an Engineering Manager, you'll lead a team of Software Engineers to integrate Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) platforms with higher-level networking solutions. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Responsibilities Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team. Guide career development and shape technical strategy for networking solutions.Drive cross-functional collaboration. Partner with Platform, GDC, Anthos Networking, and other stakeholder teams to achieve project goals and deliver exceptional results.Define and deliver key networking solutions. Plan and execute the development of network virtualization solutions for GDC Connected and Software-Only platforms, including the Network Function Optimizer (NFO).Design and develop cutting-edge networking technologies. Lead the creation of advanced network connectivity and virtualization solutions for hybrid/multi-cloud environments and container/VM workloads on Kubernetes.Be a Kubernetes networking expert and advocate. Engage with the open source community, troubleshoot production issues for GDC customers, and advocate for Google's networking technologies through public forums and events.
