Overview

JOB SPECIFICS

  • Conduct physical examinations, assess patients’ medical histories, and perform relevant diagnostic tests.
  • Evaluate foot and ankle conditions, including injuries, deformities, infections, and chronic diseases.
  • Collaborate with podiatrists to develop treatment plans for patients and rounding
  • Assist in surgical procedures, wound care, and minor office-based procedures.
  • Administer injections, prescribe medications, and provide patient education.
  • Potential to serve as the first assistant during surgical procedures related to foot and ankle conditions.
  • Assist with casting, splinting, and applying orthotic devices.
  • Monitor post-operative patients and manage wound healing.

Qualifications

Requisition qualifications field:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree or higher in nursing or physician assistant studies from an accredited program
  • Current Illinois license as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant
  • Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Minimum of two years of experience as an APP in podiatry or a related field is preferred
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care aligned to the preferences, goals, and needs of the patients served
