Meet Our Team: Software engineering teams in WBD's Direct-to-consumer (DTC) division build and deliver applications and services powering the customer experience of products such as MAX, which run on connected TVs, set-top boxes, smartphones, tablets, consoles, PCs, and other streaming devices.
Operational Engineering (Openg) teams play a critical role in ensuring these streaming products and services run smoothly and efficiently at scale. Our specialized teams focus on areas such as Infrastructure and Cluster Management, Release and Development Processes, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Operational Excellence, and Observability.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Scope & Complexity: You drive projects and products across more than one team, you have experience managing dependencies and stakeholders from external teams. You're able to take an ambiguous problem statement related to your subject-matter area to drive deliverables over multiple iterations to achieve the right outcome.
- Decision Making: Your decisions are right, far more often than not.
- Agile Execution: You get a lot done and you make others around you more productive. You have a companywide view of how your programs or projects impact the bottom line and you constantly think about how to improve our ability to deliver large projects.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Facilitate seamless communication and collaboration between the Product team and other engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Operations: You apply processes and standards thoughtfully with bias towards automation, identifying the right amount of process and structure to achieve the correct outcome with the least overhead.
- Influence: You play a leadership role in your team: they look to you for advice on the product direction, technical designs, and operations.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, team members, and external partners. Act as a trusted advisor to the engineering team and provide guidance on operational matters.
- Communication: Your written and verbal communication skills are exemplary, concise and tailored to the audience's expectations, making you the initial point of contact for business and technical stakeholders. You are the point of contact for data related to your product, services, and features.
Required Experiences and Skills:
- 10+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, hardware engineering, or technical product/program management experience.
- Experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery.
- Experience working with cross-disciplinary and geographically distributed software development teams.
- Able to navigate ambiguous and complex projects with independence.
- Able to project org-wide influence without authority to instill a culture of ownership, rigor, and accountability.
- Proactively identify and manage potential risks that could impact timelines, quality, or success. Facilitate the development of contingency plans to mitigate risks and keep launches on track.
- Highly adaptable to changing business needs and able to drive change across multiple disciplines within the engineering and operations world.
- Ability to focus both strategically and tactically to achieve business goals, including the use of data to drive improvements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
Preferred Experiences and Skills:
- Knowledge of Agile or other product management methodologies, including tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Smart Sheets, Scrum, SAFe, etc.
- Familiarity with technologies in our stack: Kubernetes running on public clouds such as AWS; IAC tools (Terraform); Observability (ELK); Developer platforms (GitHub); Messaging (Kafka), Analytics processing (Kinesis, Flink), Databases and more.
- Familiarity with security and compliance, digital media streaming platform, Software and Platform as a Service offering, etc.
