Overview

We are seeking a Mid-Level Building Mechanical Engineer. Pay Range
$73,000 to $95,000 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Responsibilities
- Production of contract documents including plans and specifications
- Performs heating/cooling and system sizing calculations
- Develops Process and Control schematics
- Prepares contract drawings and specifications
- Develops Control descriptions
- Mentors and trains entry-level mechanical engineers
- Prepares construction and design cost estimates
- Manages the mechanical HVAC and odor control portion of small to medium sized projects for water and wastewater treatment facilities
- Interfaces with client and internal project management team
- Works with multi-discipline project teams
- Prepares technical memorandums and reports
- Works as part of the project team and to effectively complete one or more portions of large or complex tasks
- Works with experienced mechanical engineers to develop mechanical design and analysis approach
- Follows selected design approach through completion of analysis, detailing and presentation
- Recognizes results for discrepancies or inconsistencies
- Attends to details in preparation or review of calculations, drawings, and specifications; works logically and is technically consistent with design standards and accuracy
- Improves technical knowledge and skills
- Considers and refines existing standards and approaches for application to specific projects
- Maintains professionalism in relationships with other office and team members
- Plans work so that broad tasks and specific details are correctly sequenced and followed through to completion
- Back checks work for approach and correctness
- Monitors scope, schedule, and budget
- Understands and implements company and client technical standards on projects
- Controls the work for a small project or an element of a larger project
- Productively works through conflict to keep the project moving forward
- Travel required when requested
- Makes site visits to observe during construction and operation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 6-12 years experience working with custom HVAC equipment, odor control, fire detection and protection and miscellaneous water systems for water and wastewater facilities
- Registration as a Professional Engineer
- Proficiency in the design of mechanical systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of national and local energy codes
- Strong knowledge of NFPA 820
- Strong knowledge of design of HVAC and odor control systems
- Strong knowledge of hazardous/classified area design
- Ability to read and understand P&IDs, control strategies, and the development of control schematics based upon these documents
- Ability to work with multi-discipline project teams
- Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to productively as part of a structural engineering project including senior level structural engineering staff and CADD technicians
- Ability to make basic technical decisions regarding analysis and detailing
- Ability to work independently to effectively complete routine tasks
- Listens and understands the concerns and needs with other office and team members
- Ability to control behavior under situations involving pressure, conflict and uncertainty
- Strong verbal and written communications skills that are well organized and persuasive
- Comfortable in public speaking roles
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience with Microstation or AutoCAD
