What We Do

What You'll Do

Fortnite's Player Expression team is responsible for equipping our players with an incredible diversity of looks and styles to show off their personality and interests. We're looking for a Lead Programmer who is passionate about developing games and people. You will lead a team of highly talented engineers pushing the envelope for customization and player choice across the Fortnite ecosystem - from characters to cars to entirely new experiences.
In this role, you will
  • Lead a team of 5+ engineers focused on gameplay-adjacent systems driving cosmetic customization and player expression.
  • Help build up your team through coaching, unblocking obstacles, code review, and sharing a positive, learning mindset.
  • Work closely with production and technical leadership to balance shipping new features with long term sustainability.
  • Build relationships with adjacent teams including art, performance, animation tech, and automation.
  • Advocate for the player experience, preserving and enhancing the library of cosmetics players have acquired.
What we're looking for
  • Previous experience and strong desire to lead and grow a team of developers.
  • Strong C++ skills and programming principles knowledge.
  • A passion for games with a willingness to focus on visual but gameplay-adjacent areas.
  • Talent for building robust, extensible, maintainable systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate fluently in English (written and verbal).
  • Unreal Engine development experience preferred but not required.
