Leidos Defense Systems, CEMA Dept is seeking a talented AI/ML Software Engineer in Huntsville, AL to join our development team to create unique solutions for complex problems in system security, engineering, and defense domains.
As a AI/ML Software Engineer, you will bring your passion of AI/ML to design, build, deploy and maintain mission critical AI/ML solutions that support our customers' mission objectives. You will also be responsible for working with other software engineers, machine learning engineers, data scientists and product managers, contributing directly to feature design and architecture and helping the team migrate solutions from research into deployment.

The AI/ML Software Engineer is a key individual contributor role and an opportunity to apply your unique combination of technical skills to developing our customers' solutions. In addition, you will leverage your skills as a leader and a mentor to develop the software engineers you work with.

Basic Qualifications
Candidates must be a resident of Huntsville, Alabama or be willing to relocate to the Huntsville, Alabama area.
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Top Secret/SSBI Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Final Top-Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Pay Range: Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00

Primary Responsibilities
- Demonstrate technical leadership to a team of software engineers in developing offensive and defensive cyber tools focused on Radar and C2 systems
- Develop simulations to emulate threat realistic CEMA environments.
- Mentor and develop other software engineers.
- Research current and future cyber security threats against military systems.
- Drive continuous improvement by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
- Define the technical direction of our products technology stack.
- Work with subject matter experts and customer liaisons to define and develop solutions that solve our customer's problems.
Basic Qualifications
- Must possess a Bachelor degree from an ABET accredited school in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical degree.
- 4- 8 years of full-time experience in an agile software engineering team environment.
- Expert knowledge of both the C++ and Python programming languages
- Strong Familiarity with the Pytorch framework
- Knowledge of AI/ML techniques such as supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning and their corresponding strengths and weaknesses
- Candidate must live in or be willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL.
- Candidate must be willing to travel approx. 10% each year if necessary - moderate travel to testing locations, typically CONUS.

Preferred Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Extensive experience with software engineering and should be prepared to demonstrate:
- Expert knowledge of standards and best practices in C++ 17 and newer
- Expert experience in AI/ML architecture, design, and deployment
- Expert experience in software architecture, design, and deployment
- Experience in developing and deploying AI/ML applications to edge devices
- Experience in developing and deploying low SWAP AI/ML applications
- Three or more years' experience leading Software Development team(s)
- Deep understanding of Linux platforms
- Experience and interest in fundamental networking implementations and concepts.
- Experience with Agile software development, CI/CD toolchains and DevOps (e.g., Atlassian suite, git, Jenkins, Artifactory)
- Experience with the following tools, concepts, and products is a plus:
- Experience deploying and maintaining software products on Windows, Ubuntu, and Red Hat
- Networking Protocols
- Wireshark
