Your Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Leader of our Transportation Business Unit (BL), the Ports & Marine Terminals Sector Leader (SL) - US is the "seller/doer" responsible for leading our Ports practice in the United States including the pursuit and delivery of excellent work to our clients. Accountable for the top line, the SL leads the growth of the Ports & Marine Terminals sector across the United States and within the individual Business Centers to advance Stantec's market position while providing innovative design solutions with exceptional quality and execution that exceed client expectations. The SL is responsible for building strong client relationships both internally and externally and ensuring that we deliver excellent work to our clients: innovative design solutions with projects that exceed expectations and grow Stantec's market position.

Degree in Engineering with professional engineering registration/license.
20 years of Ports & Marine Terminals planning, design, and construction management experience.

Client and Project Focus
- Responsible for exceeding client expectations through strong account management across the Sector and personally leading an account for one of the Business Line's major clients within the Ports & Marine Terminals.
- Achieve minimum client- and proposal-specific marketing and business development (M&BD) sales goals including internal cross-selling initiatives.
- Drives the client relationship strategy within the Sector, working with regional leadership to drive strong results in the client satisfaction survey within the respective Business Centers.
- Sets the tone among all leaders in the Sector focused on effective Business Development, excellent project delivery, and strong Collaboration across all our Business Lines including Transportation, Buildings, Water, Energy and Environmental Services.
- Responsible for increasing visibility of Stantec by sharing our knowledge and innovation story through key client and organization engagements and social media to enhance our reputation and drive revenue.
- Partners with other SLs and regional leaders to drive collaboration on pursuits across geographies and business lines.
- Accountable to achieve organic growth targets of the Sector set by the Transportation Business Leader on an annual basis.
- Individually pursue and lead significant projects within the Sector.
- Actively participate, including contribution to written content, in major projects in key roles such as Independent Technical Reviewer, as required.
- Oversee risk management related to projects and pursuits including review of contracts, fees, and proposals on large pursuits.
People Leadership
- Function as a highly regarded leader, thought partner and advisor to enhance our position in the industry and teamwork amongst our employees.
- Develop best in class high performing teams across their business suited to the longer-term mission and goals of the business.
- Oversee and partner with key stakeholders on resource management processes, talent recruitment and career development, succession planning, coaching, and mentoring, and leadership development within the business line keeping inclusion, diversity, and equity front of mind.
- Ensure appropriate ratios of leadership and professional employees to meet the business objectives of the business line.
- Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company that covers the broad range of issues required of our practitioners.
Growth
- Responsible for achieving a yearly Sector sales goal in support of the overall Infrastructure strategy and growth expectations.
- Responsible for developing and managing the M&BD plan and Top 20/Next 20 Pursuit list for the Ports & Marine Terminals Sector to achieve wins and ensure an appropriate ROI is achieved relative to our M&BD spend.
- Ensure collaboration and best practices focused on consistently winning new work within the business line including cross selling.
- Actively contribute to win strategies and successful project execution and becomes involved at a hands-on level in key pursuits as needed and on projects should issues impacting client satisfaction or project management best practices.
- Leads growth of the Sector through developing and leading the business development, key pursuit and Top 20/Next 20 sales strategy to expand our reach and client base utilizing strong marketing, business development, and sales account management plans.
- Lead and participate in pursuits and campaigns for major regional opportunities within the Sector.
- Participate in leading industry associations and networks to build relationships and expand Stantec's presence.
Financial Management
- Responsible for developing a Sector annual business plan and budget, outlining the vision, focus, strategy, and priorities for implementation, and setting specific goals in support of the overall Business Line.
- Work directly with the Transportation Business Leader, regional leaders and other Sector Leader to meet net revenue, gross margin, sales goals, and global design center Pune targets in support of the overall Business Line Business Plan.
- Responsible for implementing efficiencies to improve project delivery.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Experience successfully developing client relationships, preparing winning proposals, and delivering projects in the Ports industry with port authorities, terminal operators and design-build contractors.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Education and Experience
Degree in Engineering with professional engineering registration/license.
20 years of Ports & Marine Terminals planning, design, and construction management experience.
