Designs, validates and brings new products to market | Specifies precise new product functional requirements; designs, tests and integrates components to produce final designs; and evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability and safety | Designs, develops, executes and evaluates fitness-for-use testing, product specifications and process validation plans; creates and reviews material part specifications and bills of materials | Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability | Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings
The primary function or overall purpose of this position.
• The Customer Order Engineer (Electrical Product Engineer) plays a vital role in the design and development of custom electrical products tailored to the customers' specific needs. This role will work closely with the sales, engineering, and production teams to create detailed electrical designs, generate accurate quotes and Bills of Materials (BOMs), and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
o Maintain thorough documentation of electrical designs, quotes, BOMs, and related project data.
o Ensure that all documentation is organized, accessible, and up to date.
• Quality Assurance:
o Conduct quality checks on electrical designs to ensure accuracy and reliability.
o Participate in design reviews to identify and address potential issues early in the process.
• Continuous Improvement:
o Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering.
o Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in electrical design and quoting.
Performance Dimensions:
Measurable statistics that this position impacts such as production expenses, maintenance expenses, sales volumes, payroll costs, capital expenditures, research budgets, cost of purchases, value of inventories controlled, total revenues and expenses audited.
• Design Accuracy - Percentage of electrical designs that meet customer specifications without major revisions. Number of design errors or issues identified during internal and external reviews.
• Quote Accuracy and Competitiveness - Percentage of quotes that accurately reflect project costs.
• Win rate based on the quotes provided - Average profit margin achieved on quoted projects.
• BOM Management - Accuracy of Bills of Materials (BOMs) created in the ERP system.
• Timeliness of BOM updates and revisions - Reduction in BOM-related production delays or errors.
• Customer Satisfaction - Customer feedback and satisfaction scores related to the electrical design and quoting process. Resolution time for customer inquiries and technical support requests.
• Project Timeliness - Adherence to project timelines and deadlines. Percentage of projects completed on schedule.
• Cost Control - Variance between estimated and actual project costs. Cost reduction initiatives implemented in electrical design and quoting processes.
• Documentation and Record Keeping - Completeness and accuracy of project documentation, including designs, quotes, and BOMs. Compliance with documentation standards and organizational requirements.
• Process Improvement - Number of process improvement suggestions implemented. Measurable improvements in efficiency and accuracy within the electrical design and quoting processes.

Must have:
480 Volts Power Distribution and Electrical Product Design Experience
We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience designing electrical power distribution circuits/installations typically at 480V (but it could be 277V, 600V, etc). We want this person be familiar with 3-phase distribution systems: Breakers, Transformers, Disconnects, etc.
Bachelor Degree required-Electrical Engineer
