As the HR Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing the HR functions, with a primary focus on payroll management, HR technology implementation, employee engagement, and assists with HR training and development. You will lead a dedicated team, ensuring the smooth operation of payroll processes, effective HR initiatives, and strategic engagement and retention efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Payroll Management:
- Supervise the Payroll Department, consisting of a Payroll Manager and an Onboarding Specialist. Additional supervision may be added due to growth.
- Review and approve payroll for all companies within the restaurant group.
- Ensure compliance with payroll policies, legal regulations, and industry standards.
- HR Technology:
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of HR technology systems.
- Collaborate with IT and relevant stakeholders to optimize HR processes through technology.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and recommend technology enhancements to streamline HR operations.
- Oversee the use of the HR team's workflows and processes.
- Training and Development:
- Assist with developing and implementing HR training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the workforce.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Benefit Administration
- Manage employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other ancillary benefits.
- Serve as a liaison between employees and benefit providers to resolve issues and answer questions.
- Conduct regular reviews of benefit programs to ensure competitiveness and compliance with legal requirements.
- Worker's Compensation
- Oversee the worker's compensation program, including claim management and communication with insurance providers.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of workplace injuries and compliance with state regulations.
- Work with managers to implement workplace safety initiatives and reduce risk.
- Unemployment
- Manage unemployment claims, including reviewing and responding to claims in a timely manner.
- Represent the company in unemployment hearings as necessary.
- Work with managers to document and support disciplinary actions to minimize unemployment liabilities.
- Supervision
- Provide leadership and supervision to staff.
- Ensure efficient office operations that contribute to employee engagement and retention goals.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or 7 years of experience.
- Proven experience as an HR Generalist, or Manager or similar role, preferably in the restaurant or hospitality industry.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, HR technology, and training and development strategies.
- Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is a plus.
