Veterinarian

NVA, Pasadena, TX

Huffard Animal Hospital in Pasadena, MD is looking for an Associate Veterinarian to join their growing team!

Snapshot of Our Practice:

  • Our motto is Compassion. Care. Commitment - applicable to both our client/pet community and within our own team
  • Prioritization of the balance between providing exemplary veterinary care to our community while safeguarding our own mental health and work-life balance
  • Colleagues include experienced/established veterinarians alongside more recently graduated doctors, thereby providing access to both tried-and-true medicine and techniques as well as cutting edge recommendations-truly the best of both worlds
  • Collaborative approach among our doctors that extends from case load and problem-solving to last-minute schedule adjustments/trades, as needed

Our practice is a well-established and dynamic small animal hospital located between the Baltimore and Annapolis metropolitan areas. We are seeking a proficient veterinarian interested in practicing quality medicine among a team of friendly, professional, and fun-loving staff! At Huffard Animal Hospital, we pride ourselves on being a diverse mixture of respected and reputable doctors/staff as well as fresh team members enthusiastically at the start of their careers. In addition to providing a high standard of care, it is important to our team that prospective candidates show willingness to laugh at the sillies, share comfort during the tough times, and help the team continue to advance our skills, knowledge, and capabilities.

About the Opportunity:
  • Combination of general practice caseload (scheduled wellness visits, sick/injured appointments, and surgeries/dentals) as well as a limited quota of same-day-sick visits shared daily among the doctoral team
  • "Flex Hour" daily on weekdays as a buffer that is free from scheduled appointments - this helps ensure lunch is eaten, the workload remains contained within reasonable working hours, and that nursing mothers can be confident they will have time to tend to their needs
  • Access to several local emergency hospitals/specialty practices for case transfer, discussion, and guidance
  • Full-time preferred, part-time considered

Alternating A/B type of schedule

A:

  • 1 evening shift 12p-8p (with on-call overnight for any previously admitted pets)

o Roughly one Sunday every 6 weeks on-call for any pets already in the hospital-- we do not admit any cases into the hospital outside of normal business hours, so being on-call only applies to previously admitted pets

o Rotating and randomly assigned holiday on-call for any previously admitted pets

o Schedules are predictable and posted 3 months in advance to help with planning for vacation, personal appointments, or other time off; holiday on-call assignments are provided at the end of the summer for the next calendar year

  • Separate dedicated room for hospital/surgical/dental discharges
