About the Role
Heyday is seeking a candidate who is passionate about our greatest asset - our people and HR - an individual who loves learning and developing their skills and helping those around them.
This role is based in NYC and will report directly to the Senior Director of People Operations and supports the company as a whole as the first point-of-contact in answering HR-related questions, field employee relations, HRIS maintenance, preparing reporting, assisting in crafting policy as well as its delivering it's successful implementation, and scaling these processes for a high growth environment.

Compensation: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year

About the Role

This role is based in NYC and will report directly to the Senior Director of People Operations and supports the company as a whole as the first point-of-contact in answering HR-related questions, field employee relations, HRIS maintenance, preparing reporting, assisting in crafting policy as well as its delivering it's successful implementation, and scaling these processes for a high growth environment.
What You'll Do
- Shop Employee Performance Management
- Support Shop Managers in employee relations and performance management through coaching & counseling, written documentation, and Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) as needed.
- Perform thorough investigations for workplace complaints and grievances
- Employee Point-of-Contact
- Manage the Company HR inbox and respond to inquiries in a timely manner serving as the first point of contact for employees for day-to-day inquiries.
- Shop Employee Life Cycle
- Oversee the administration of shop employee onboarding & offboarding process
- Maintain HRIS administrative process for employee changes within the shops
- Process unemployment claims and employment verification requests
- Explain and process various federal, state and Heyday Leaves of Absence.
- Policy & Procedure
- Develop a thorough knowledge of our policies and employee programs to expertly support our shop managers and employees on these matters, and ensure all policies and procedures are followed
- Review and update HR process documentation; create new process documents as needed
- Assist in development, modification, roll out and implementation of human resource policies to employees, shop managers, and team
- Respond to ad hoc reporting, data requests, and general requests from internal departments and external requests for data.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
The Ideal Candidate
- Effectively communicate with all levels of employees and demonstrate adaptable speaking and listening skills in a variety of situations
- Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
- Proven team player and motivated self-starter with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Evidenced maturity in handling of sensitive personal matters with high level of confidentiality
- Working knowledge of state, federal and local employment laws including but not limited to, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, NLRA, Title VII, etc.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years HR experience
- Prior employee relations and performance management experience.
- Experience in a role supporting field-based employees in a multi state environment.
- Previous experience maintaining compliance in California.
- Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) and Google
- SHRM-CP / PHR Certification is required
