Position Summary:

Champlain College seeks a dynamic and well-rounded Human Resources Manager to complement its HR team, known at Champlain as the People Center. The HR Manager will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for assigned aspects of human resources functions, in particular talent acquisition/management, employee relations and HR technology. Champlain is known for its fast-paced, engaged and innovative culture. The ideal candidate will bring HR expertise combined with an ability to resolve issues employing both human and data-driven perspectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Talent Acquisition: Manage the full recruitment cycle with a proactive and creative approach to the recruitment and selection process, including developing job descriptions, sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, and extending offers.
  • Employee Relations: Act as a trusted advisor to employees and management, addressing concerns, resolving conflicts, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • HR Technology: Oversee the implementation and utilization of HR technology systems to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Administer compensation programs, including salary structures, incentive plans, and benefits packages. Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations.
  • HR Policies and Procedures: Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Employee Engagement: Foster a positive and engaging work environment through initiatives such as employee surveys, recognition programs, and team-building activities.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement HR strategies that support Champlain's overall goals and objectives.


Requirements:
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in human resources management, preferably in higher education with a proven track record in talent acquisition, employee relations, and HR technology.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree in Human Resources Management, MBA, policy or a related field is preferred.
  • HR certificates from SHRM and HRCI are preferred.
  • Expertise in Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written with an ability to build and maintain strong relationships with employees, faculty, and staff.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing and resolving HR issues.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
