McKinlay & Peters Equine Hospital is a full-service, equine exclusive practice serving Eastern Washington & North Idaho. MPEH has two hospital locations to better serve our clientele. The Colbert Hospital is home to our Reproduction Facility while the focus of the Newman Lake Hospital is Lameness, Surgery & Critical Care. Our hospitals include Advanced Imaging Diagnostics-MRI, Digital X-Ray, Endoscope, Breeding/Semen Collection, Isolation Barn, Rehabilitation, Farrier/Podiatry Center. The Colbert clinic includes safe, lighted stalls for cycling mares, video monitored foaling stalls, secure stallion stalls and turn-out paddocks. We are a Select Breeders Services Affiliate Lab which holds us to the highest standards in semen preparation, handling and storage in the industry. Our embryo transfer program is second to none in the Northwest.

We have 7 doctors on staff including one Board Certified Surgeon & a second doctor Certified in Internal Medicine. The doctors are supported by a strong team of technicians, office staff & barn crew. We have an immediate opening for a dedicated equine reproduction veterinarian to join our growing team.

Our Ideal Candidate:
  • Accomplished veterinary professional with a passion for the highest quality veterinary medicine
  • Specialty training in reproductive techniques, including high success rates with embryo transfer (preferred)
  • A dedication to mentoring and supporting professional development for externs, interns, colleagues, and staff
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to support clients and patients alike to continually improve patient care and client experience

About the Position:
  • Strong focus on reproduction with the possibility of general practice work as well, specifically in the breeding off season. Shared on call with other associates will be required.
  • The doctor will work primarily out of out Repro Center in Colbert, although some time will be spent at the Newman Lake Hospital.
  • The position could be modified for seasonal work (4-6 months of breeding season) or could be a full-time year round position
  • Caseload will consist of all aspects of repro work including stallion management and collection, semen freezing, mare palpation and management, embryo transfers, foaling out, follow up care, and more
