Missile Defense THAAD Systems Engineer

We are pleased to announce the opening for a Missile Defense THAAD Systems Engineer, who will join our Engineering Services Division in Huntsville, Alabama and become part of our rapidly growing technology company operating in missile defense, cybersecurity, test range modernization, biotechnology, and space control marketspaces. You will be part of a team that supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) THAAD Missile Product Office (MPO) supporting missile hardware engineering on multiple components in the Propulsion and Structures Division of the THAAD MPO.

Responsibilities:

You'll be:
  • Integrating into a cross-functional team and support the focal point for THAAD Missile hardware development, integration, test, production, and sustainment.
  • Providing technical expertise on some portion of appropriate missile components including thrust vector actuator, boost motor, shroud, kill vehicle midbody, divert and attitude control system (DACS), and ordnance systems.
  • Interfacing with senior engineers in the technical review of emerging THAAD Missile design updates in support of both obsolescence and/or performance driven upgrades as required.
  • Providing technical expertise and team guidance related to technologies utilized in missile hardware components.
  • Assisting the team by reviewing test plans, requirements, and evaluation of component/interceptor performance related to updates and design changes.
  • Planning, defining, evaluating, and monitoring contract tasks involving THAAD Missile design, development, evaluation, test, and production.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years relevant engineering experience with portions of design, development, testing, manufacturing, or sustainment of mechanical or electrical systems.
  • You must possess or can obtain an Active SECRET clearance.
  • This is a hybrid position. Mandatory in office day on Mondays with the ability to work from home Tues-Friday.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding and application of sound engineering principles related to component design, interoperability, failure investigation, and risk mitigation.
  • Experience working in a high intensity environment with minimal supervision.
  • Travel as required to other locations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to include creation and presentation of briefing materials.
  • Strong computer skills - working knowledge of MS office suite of tools.
  • Technical knowledge and experience with mechanical or electrical systems, including components listed above.
  • Knowledge of structural or propulsion operations, mechanical integration, thermal requirements and analysis.
  • Detailed design and manufacturing experience with high reliability missile components qualified to demanding environments.
  • Experience applying engineering and DOD acquisition process, policies, procedures, and practices, including entrance and exit criteria evaluation prior to formal design reviews.
  • Leadership skills for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling engineering teams tasked with the design, development, testing, manufacturing, and sustainment of missile components within a complex system.
