SUMMARY: Define, develop, and oversee the implementation of new manufacturing processes primarily for Raytheon connectors and cable assemblies or improvements to existing manufacturing processes, maintaining high levels of manufacturing and product quality while ensuring cost-efficiency and conformance with regulatory standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
Work closely with Raytheon design engineering on new products and special manufacturing process requirements.
Review Supplier Statement of Work (SSOW) for compliance and, where needed, implementation of new procedures / processes in order to meet SSOW requirements.
Assist with developing cost / pricing strategy for SSOW compliance requirements related to design and manufacturing engineering
Evaluating existing processes and identifies areas for improvement
Assist the Quality Engineering with determining root cause in problem analysis and implementing solutions
Analyze process plans, determining lean-based layouts and work force planning/utilization for maximum efficiency
Assist the Quality Engineering with complete detailed, documented process qualification procedures, including PFMEAs, Quality Control Plans, First Article Inspection Requirements, and Capability Studies.
Developing and implementing cost savings and quality improvement projects
Utilize PTC Creo to design simple tooling, jigs and fixtures
Develop, write, and communicate Statements of Work for complex capital purchases
Conduct detailed, on-site vendor assessments and audits
Provide Design for Manufacturability review and feedback to product engineering on new product designs
Determine accurate manufacturing costs for new process implementations or improvements and update manufacturing systems with accurate data for planning and accounting
Identify and implement cost savings, calculating anticipated savings and return on investment
Utilize Lean and Six Sigma techniques in all aspects of qualification and problem solving
Interface with customers and organizational bodies as manufacturing engineering representative during customer visits and audits
Must perceptive to direct and indirect impact of proposed solutions on quality, cost, and operator satisfaction and can easily express those values of proposed solutions to all levels in the organization.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Requires the knowledge typically acquired through:
Completion of a four year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent;
Two to three years related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Technical writing
Presentation skills, with the ability to tailor the message to the audience
Lean Methodologies
Six Sigma and related technical problem solving tools
Digital Factory connectivity
Ability to write articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format and effectively present information to top management.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
