New Story Schools is seeking a qualified Special Education Tutor/Behavior Technician to teach and mentor students as part of the Outreach Program. Special Education Tutors/Behavior Technicians work 1:1 in home and community settings with students on the Autism Spectrum focusing on addressing IEP goals. Programming may address academic, behavioral, and vocational goals.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Apply the principals of behavior science to tutor students
  • Run data-driven practice as assigned
  • Implement “Precision Teaching” and/or discrete-trial training
  • Record accurate data
  • Use data to make decisions
  • Use explicit instruction as assigned
  • Apply “Mathetics” to daily instruction
  • Implement direct instruction programs and techniques
  • Perform habit training duties
  • Manage students as assigned
  • Implement principles of behavioral science to effectively manage student behavior
  • Adhere to the behavior management tier assigned to each student
  • Supervise and execute school activities inside and outside the learning environment
  • Arrange and maintain a safe and effective learning environment
  • Implement data-based decision making as assigned
  • Use formal academic and behavior data to assist with interventions
  • Submit all data and records by established deadlines
Qualifications:
  • At least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A genuine passion for working with children, along with patience and compassion
Preferred/Nice to have:
  • Experience working with children with special needs or autism through volunteer work, employment, or other relevant experiences
