Hutchings Psychiatric Center (BPC) had immediate job opportunities for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), previous psychiatric experience is not required. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.

Candidates within State Service can be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Nurses at BPC are vital members of a multi-disciplinary team focused on providing companionate care and patient-centered and recovery-focused mental health services to individuals with serious mental illness. LPNs at BPC, under the direction of a Registered Nurse are:

- License and current registration to practice as a practical nurse in New York State; or
- Limited Permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State; or
- Application on file for a Limited Permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State.

Notes:
- If you fail to maintain your license and registration once you are appointed to Licensed Practical Nurse, action will be taken to remove you from the position.

- In order to be eligible for appointment and to maintain employment, you cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program). If you are appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program), you may be terminated from your employment.
- If appointed you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.

- Performing nursing care tasks consistent with individual treatment plans
- Administering medication
- Attending to individuals’ personal care needs including daily living and hygiene tasks
