POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Counsel will provide legal guidance and advice to one (or more) of Balchem's business segments regarding all aspects of the business, including review of various marketing claims. The role will coordinate and calibrate with the Assistant General Counsel, as appropriate. In addition, the Senior Counsel will be responsible for reviewing various corporate contracts, including procurement (supplier and distributor agreements), real estate, and other matters. This role will require ability to work across different functions and business segments, exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills, and effective communication at all levels and across all functions within the company.
There is ample opportunity to be involved in various matters (incl. M&A and litigation) and grow and develop as a versatile and trusted legal counsel and business partner. This role will report to the Company's General Counsel and Secretary with a dotted reporting line to the Assistant General Counsel. Compensation package is commensurate with experience and Balchem offers generous benefits which include medical, dental, vision, 401K with company match and a hybrid work model. Relocation assistance will be considered for non-local candidates as part of the package.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as lead counsel for at least one of Balchem's three business segments.
- Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts and agreements, including procurement, real estate, etc.
- Conduct legal research and provide legal training, as appropriate.
- Partner with various internal customers to address and provided guidance on legal matters.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Law degree (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Admitted to practice and member in good standing of any state bar.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department environment. In-house experience is a plus.
- Experience in advertising law is a preferred.
- Experience in environmental law and/or labor & employment law is a plus.
- Able to relocate within commuting distance of our Montvale, NJ headquarters.
- Hybrid work model (generally expected to be in the office three days a week).
- Ability to multi-task, be adaptable, and manage various matters effectively, including learning new areas of law.
- Strong business acumen and ability to provide sound, practical legal advice and solutions.
- Ability to take initiative and lead various projects.
- Highest level of integrity and strong work ethic.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts, including outside attorneys, senior management, and business associates.
- Work is mostly sedentary.
- Operate typical office equipment such as computer.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs required.
- Some travel, both domestic and international, may be required.
